Develpers are Lazy on pc performance

Hello guys, im getting a little frustated over here.

In games like Metro 2033, Crysis 1, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2.
I can all max @ 1360x768 @ 8xaa

Now there are these Games:

Splinter Cell Conviction
- Max GPU Usage = 65%
- Max CPU Usage = around 60%

Operation Flashpoint Red River
- Max GPU Usage = 80%
- Max GPU Usage = around 75%

My GFX Card is a hd6950 unlocked shaders.
My CPU is a Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz

I know my cpu is not the best anymore lol.. but i mean ***!!!!!
Why can Crysis 2 run silky smooth, and these ugly looking games are ******* bottlenecked by my CPU???

Sometimes i dont understand it.. I Launch up crysis, beautifull effects, nice textures etc. And These games have NOTHING, NOTHING that could require that much rendering power....

Is it just my CPU Bottlenecks allot??
Or are the develpers lazy in optimizing there games???

If both your CPU and GPU are running at substantially less than 100%, then vsync is probably enabled. So rendering any extra frames wouldn't actually do anything.

Actually, scratch that. You use a quad core, chances are that the games don't use 4 threads. One or two of your cores are probably maxed, and that's your bottleneck. Q6600's don't have stellar performance per core.

And yes, the developers are lazy. The reason those games take so much CPU is the code has been ported over from xbox 360 sloppily, and they didn't bother to optimize it.

Well, there is such a thing as optimization. With a console, you have one piece of hardware and you know the list of components. With a PC, you have millions (maybe billions>) of different configurations.

And, well, both Splinter Cell and Op Flashpoint are crap games to begin with, so there's your answer for that. The devs don't really care about those games at all, why spend the time trying to optimize when you can pump out another crap title and make a few more bucks?

I did have v-sync disabled.

Thats why i found in rare that those 2 ****e games didnt get decent fps.

Thx for the replies...

But as those developers, they cant even make a game run good on a pc...
Now i appreciate what crytek does.... They know how to build a good pc engine with great graphics, so does Dice..

The rest is just a big pile a ****e, and should stick do consoles

Check if the games are multi-threaded or not. If the game only uses 2 threads then it can only use 50% of your CPU. The games you listed should be single or dual threaded games, all the ones you say run at full speed are multi-threaded.

Well let's see. At 1360x768, I see no reason at all why you couldn't max these games out. That resolution is so low, it really doesn't make much difference. Crysis 2 you could max at 1080p just fine, since its a silly console ported DX9 game.

And Metro, and the original Crysis are both HEAVILY Graphics card influenced games. You could max those games out with stock clocks or lower, and you'd be just fine.

These games are clearly showing that they are CPU heavy games. I'm betting you haven't tried GTA IV yet. You'll rage-punch your rig if you tried GTA IV out.

The problem isn't EXACTLY the developers. Your CPU is what, 5 years old? Of course its going to start holding you back with newer games, ESPECIALLY at that low of a resolution. The lower the resolution, the more likely the CPU will be to hold you back.

Also, its pretty obvious that the games you've listed do NOT utilize a quad core anyway. So you need a faster clock speed to compensate for the fact that the games don't use all 4 cores.

Oh yes they are lazy.

There is no real lighting in DA2, its all faked.

Thats how consoles get the semi decent visuals they have, they start faking shadows, lighting, distant environments, etc.

I dont understand why people say, on a low resolution your CPU is holding you back..

But, a lower resolution always = HIGHER FPS.
I tested this with 10+ games, always a lower res is higher fps.
Higher res, 1080p always gets lower then my 1360x768 res
- In some games, @ higher res, you will get higher gpu usage, but not higher FPS,....

And i can play GTA4 on highest settings, and its more smooth then Splintercell/Flashpoint.

So its just these dumb games are not multi threaded, i MEAN COME ON, its 2011!!!!!

But in 2 or 3 month i upgrade to SB, or whats out that time... and i will take a dump on these bad not multi threaded games, who should came out in 2005....

crysis 2 only uses 2-3 cores btw, and 99% gpu

and yes they are lasy, don´t get me started, try playing gts SA, enter the matrix, scarface, no matter how monsterfull your pc is, these game barely reach 40fps, 60fps only on intro screen, nfs carbon and many others

most pc games don´t use the cpu and gpu to the max, you can see this with coretemp, do loggin, then play, then see logs, and with gpuz
