The you should be looking at either Verizon or Comcast unless your in St. Marys and neither are available, then i'd suggest looking at Charles County.

Yup St. Marys so were screwed with either 7meg Metrocast cable or 1.5meg Verizon DSL.
In the California, MD area to be exact...

My first question is if I should get the modem and router separate or a gateway. While I was looking around, I found power line networking. Most of them could only go up to 200mbs but I saw two Netgear power line adapters could go up to 500mbs. I was thinking about running power line through the house for my first build since there's a hype saying it runs as fast as a wired connection. I was wondering if I should get power line for the house. I'll eventually have more questions as my life goes on but for now, this is all I have. Thanks!
Power line is amazing. I have it in my house (linksys set) and it works flawlessly across the entire house. When I take my desktop home I get the same download and upload speeds as the computer plugged directly into the router. Hell, I don't even get wifi where my desktop usually resides (not yet ) The linksys set I got contained a one port plug which was intended for the router, and a 4 way switch plug. Not a single complain. Best part is, a 2 year old could install it, truly plug and play with no firmware or software required.

That sucks Verizon and Comcast never moved south. I live in Anne Arundel and the place is wired to the max with fiber. Send them an email about if they ever plan to expand down there, and if so when. I would be disappointed if they never decided to expand further.

Ooooo...another supporter. I'll see if there's Verizon in my area (I'm sure. I believe my parents used their phone service before switching to iBBTalk).

Edit: I got 7mbs for about 3/5 the price of metrocast.
