Feedback on H70 custom loop

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I have a H70 with Swiftech micro res like most of us here. I will be using GT14 fans mounted to side of the case.
I am new to computer modding but will I be able to cool my i5 2500 sandy + a 6870 with EK block?

I have a small HTPC case so I really can't go much bigger.

A bigger/another res AND cooling the GPU will kill the pump in the H70. It's desgined to push a small loop through a 120rad and not much more. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say just straight water cool. It doesn't to be extremely expensive and its not difficult if you're careful.

welcome to OCN .

on to ur question.

ur plan is to mod the h70 to add a res to it. and use it to cool a 6870 too?

no it wont be possible. even if u changed the radiator to a bigger one, the pump isnt strong enough to push thru it. it will die in a month or two.

if u would like to cool ur gpu also. i woulldnt mod the h70 and sell ti and buy a xspc 360 rasa kit.

Do you really need to cool an HTPC that badly? I would think that an H70 would be fine.

Well its my workstation/all around computer but I just like the HTPC cases.
But I'll just use it to cool the cpu and forget the gpu.

Cool cool, also does it matter the orientation of the rad? I have it on its side right now with the in and out on top of each other. Is there a divider between the in and out so the water doesn't just slow right out without being cooled?

Or how about this?

Some sort of 120 rad like ThermoChill PA120.1
Swiftech micro res
Swiftech MCP655 pump

Will that be enough for the non-OC 6870
and the i5 s2500 sandy OC to atleast 4ghz?
