I can tell you C2 has absolutely terrible memory controllers. I could not stabilize a blend test at all on an x3 720 with 1600mhz RAM. I needed to downclock it to 1333mhz to get it to pass. If you never ran prime before, chances are you were never 100% stable. C3 stepping I can not comment on since I did not own, but I think 1600mhz shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If you fail memtest86+ then it's your RAM. However, if you can pass memtest86+ and prime95 small FFT, then it's probably the memory controller at fault. From this point, you have two options. Either increase CPU-NB voltage in an attempt to stabilize it, or downclock the memory to 1333mhz.

I looked and I do have C2. I have now tested at 1333 with 1 stick. I was stable for 3 min. Then I stopped the test. Testing other stick of RAM now.

There is really no point to test individual sticks unless you suspect one of them to be faulty. Also 3 minutes of blend (or memtest, or whatever you were running) is absolutely no way to gauge any sort of stability.

You cannot determine the stability of anything in just three minutes. Testing RAM for any instabilities is best for 5-8 hours, longer if you wish. I always personally choose twelve hours.

Patience is the key here. You have to take your time and test your components so you can find the answer to your problem. If you're going to just speed run through everything and not go carefully you won't solve your problem.

Also, as savage said don't test one stick at a time unless your RAM is unstable after a certain period of time with ALL sticks being tested at the same time.

I know that running it only for 3 min is not a test. Its just that before it would crash in 3 seconds. I now have my 2 sticks of ram in at 1333 and it appears to be working better then it was at 1600. When I bought this PC a year ago I did not know as much as I do now. Which is not much still. Anyways ill get back later in a few days once I have run full tests.
