Upgrade advice needed please - Page 2

For a real upgrade you'll need a new board, CPU and RAM. No joke.

Start new. AMD on a budget, or SB for moderate spending.

I plan to build a whole new system later. But for what I do now this is fine, I just need alittle more power, a quad at 3.2+ plus some new RAM and i'm set.

Never mind I see now, but I don't know **** about AMD procs. Never owned one, and are any of these motherboards good overclockers?

well i dont know dont own it but for 100 not going to be bad, faster and cheaper then the intell chip. then u get sb and swap ram. U can pay for the last mobo is u want the best they have (i got it . use the 2nd pci-e slot ) Well @ 3.2 not slow. O well I like 8 pin and phase power/cooling for power and chipsets.

DDR2 is expensive, especially for 4GB kits. You'll pay less than half as much for DDR3. Finding a good used quad can be a challenge, and you'll still have to pay good money. Then there is your board's limitation, P43 is not the greatest overclocker.

I'd still recommend going AMD.
