Overclockable Motherboard+RAM Suggestions

Thread Starter
Greetings again,

Looking to upgrade my motherboard and RAM to DDR3, and also purchase a CPU Cooler.

I was looking at the ASUS M4A89GTD and the BioStar TA890FXE.

I want something that is suited to overclocking, as it seems more future proof, and I am very interested in overclocking.

As far as budget is concerned, if your making a suggestion, please base it specifically on the criteria of Quality, Overclock-ability, and it's ability to last as a useful piece of hardware well into the future. (BD support is nice too. )

What is the recommended CPU cooler?

All of this will be sandwiched into an Antec 200, and I am open to suggestions that include getting a different case.

I cannot say to much in regards to the knowledge and helpfulness of this community.

I appreciate any and all suggestions and thank you for your time.

ASUS M4A89GTD is a great board for overclocking, 8+2 power phase with heatsink

BioStar TA890FXE is not quite as good, 4+2 power phase with heatsink

with most gpu's in crossifre/sli 2@x8 is very close to 2@x16

That solidifies my decision to get the ASUS. Thanks.

G.Skill Ripjaws acceptable as far as DDR3 RAM?

Both motherboards are good, even the Biostar desipte the 4+2 power phase (it's of very good quality). However the ASUS wins here IMO because it offers BIOS-update experimental AM3+ support.

As for Ripjaws, it depends on the particular kit you choose (speeds/timings) and price
