ATT and VZW BOTH use the same damn LTE cabinet... its made by Ericsson! ... 2x available frequencies.. 750mhz and 2100mhz

*and TMOBILE is the only carrier with HSDPA+.. ATT does NOT have this license.
They are INSTALLING LTE. None of the network actually runs on LTE right now. Proof? There are no consumer LTE devices for ATT right now.

ATT is most definitely running HSPA+ right now, not sure what you're talking about them not having a license to run it.

Without violating NDA.. I can say that the HSDPA+ that ATT uses is merely a software upgrade to existing hardware..where as Tmo's HSDPA+ is newer hardware. There are difference beyond what the manufacturers will allow the general public to understand.

*just keep in mind that phrases like "HSDPA, GSM, UMTS and LTE" are all acronyms for equimpent specifications. So long as a set of equipment meets the "standards" the carrier/manufacturer is allowed to label it as such.. it doesnt mean they are the same..and definitly does NOT mean they function with the same speeds/capacity coverage etc.

There are more/just as many misconceptions regarding cellular service/carriers, as there are misconceptions regarding computers and overclocking.

Regards,

That's not proof. Installing doesn't mean it's not running - it's just that no device can connect to it. It's very likely that AT&T is testing their LTE technology.

T-Mo is likely not a brand Apple is looking to move to. However, it uses the same frequencies as many European carriers that Apple uses already - so in the US makes perfect sense to at least test on. They probably just bought a sim-free T-Mo chip and plugged it in to test the other frequencies. Or the photo was taken in another country entirely.

Also, he was joking. It's pretty obvious that the iPhone 4 is not a 4G phone (although it's the 4th generation iPhone so it's correct to refer it to the iPhone 4G, so is referring to the iPod Classic as the iPod 7G. Don't get so worked up about it.

you missed my point. My point is that consumers only have access to HSPA+ and not LTE right now on AT&T

Lol.. of course they test it after it goes in.. but they dont bring up 1x site at a time.. they launch an entire city market [several hundreds of sites] all at once. There has been no LTE launch for ATT, as the network isnt deployed.. Hence- its still being installed nation-wide.
