Odd internet problems

hey ocn.

so a few weeks back i switched my internet isp from Verizon regular internet to the Verizon home phone, cell phone, internet package.

it saves about $70 a year. but to switch the package i had to change my internet to a different phone line. and all since then its been a internet ***** storm.

ill wake up in the morning and the windows little connection icon says connected but no internet access?. and usually EVERY NIGHT 8pm till the morning it will randomly do this no internet access bs. and to get it to get access and reconnect i need to turn off the router and turn it back on. sometimes it just completely disconnects and the internet light on my router is off

i have called Verizon many times and they do some kind of scan and say that its fine!!!??!

my router is about 2 1/2 years old. im thinking that it the problem. and since the switch to a different line my steam download speeds went from 350kb/s to like 200-150kb/s??????

im not sure what to tell Verizon now. i just want this fixed. ive missed like 5 raids on WoW due to this and its really annoying

anyone have ANY idea what could possibly happening?

You don't have any sort of "filters" on your phone lines do you? They are little adapters than prevent static on your home phones when you browse the internet.

I mistakenly had my modem connected to one of these and it cut my speed exactly in half, and caused weird disconnects.

To troubleshoot your router, I would connect one computer directly to the modem and see if the problems go away. Routers have way too many settings, and one of those could be incompatible with your new internet.

Check your router settings. Type of connection, type of modulation you're telling the router to use. Small things can make very big differences. Checking on the Verizon FAQ page or if they have some type of forum on their website would be useful too. =]

It might be a pain but you could just restore your gateway to the default configuration and re set it up but certainly don't rule out your computer.
