Fourth. Get rid of the cheap plastic CPU socket, dammit. I want something with ZERO moving parts, as well, I want a better layout for aftermarket coolers and WC gear. OMG SO MANY MOVING PARTS

Fifth. Mobo mfgs. Either start producing sexy boards like Intel has, or go find another CPU mfg to deal with. We want high end boards. We want boards that cost 350+ bucks that come with every bell and whistle available. I don't care if you have to buy moonrocks to make it happen, do it. Oh wait, the vast majority of the profitable market share comes from the budget line of boards. Disregard.

There. Done. AMD back on top ran into the ground, I've made enough money for a year, employees are happy no longer can be paid, enigneers and driver people and mobo mfgs take their jobs more seriously... Ah, the good life.
Fixed.

There's a reason you aren't CEO...

LOL...that's very funny.AMD is in a prime position right now BECAUSE they purchased ATi,just ask nVidia and Intel, who are both scrambling to be able to compete against them in the mobile market.Ignorence is bliss I guess. Why does every single thread with AMD in the title turn into "Intel is better-AMD sucks?" NO ONE ASKED YOU OR NEEDED THIS REHASHED INFO!

Yeah we need more overpriced mobos with fancy heatsinks that are made specifically for "h@R4C0r3, 3733T g@m3R5." Despite the fact that AMD CPUs are intended to provide the best performance/price ratio an expensive motherboard doesn't always mean higher OCs.

the only thing making money for AMD right now its their gfx division.. dont buy ATi and they would be doomed now..

it was a good move future wise, but was a hard blow for them, thats all

I wonder how AMD/Nvidia combo would be right now if they would acepted the offer

As it stands now, AMD's cpu socket is plastic, and it moves with the lever. With Intel's sockets, you just put the CPU in, and clamp it down. The socket itself doesn't move.

And that's part of AMD's issue. If they REALLY want to compete with Intel in performance, then they have to release a better performing CPU. Simple as that.

There's a lot of us that wish we could have better mobos. What's the best AMD out right now? MSI 890FX-GD70? Asus Crosshair IV? That's all we have? That's not a lot of viable options for the enthusiast.

Have you ever used budget AMD boards? Most of them are garbage.

But you said ZERO MOVING PARTS.

I get what you mean by the socket moving but the only issue I have is the CPU being held down by its pins alone. This can be a pain in heatsink/waterblock removal since you have to twist the HS/block to remove it without pulling the CPU out along with it.

I don't think I've heard about anyone breaking or bending pins under normal usage with this socket.

Well AMD needs BD to be a top performer then if it wants to be treated as the golden child by motherboard manufacturers.

It also has a lot to do with the price of CPUs themselves. If a person is willing to spend $1000 on a chip from Intel they most likely wouldn't mind spending $400 on a motherboard. People tend to spend more on their CPU than their mobo.
