Went to microcenter:

Open box matx case $15

Phenom II X4 840 $99

MSI 785GTM-E45
Ati Hd 4200
HDMI out!
8 channel sound! $0.01 bundle (FREE!!)

Spare ram, spare psu,spare hdd

$115 to build a QUAD CORE, hdmi out system for use
as my VNC box and media center.

PLUS there's a $10 rebate on the board.

LOVE AMD RIGHT NOW

I couldn't even buy an all-in-one atom board for that little.

Id argue that sandy bridge is a better value. A 2500K is only $230 and is one of the fastest CPUs on the market today, faster than any AMD CPUs.

Yes, Sandy Bridge is the better value at the $230 price point... but at $100? Nope.

Good find OP. Have fun with it. You planning on OC'ing at all?

I have noticed that for quite some time now that MC (I get there monthly sale ads and with the money I have spent there over the years should have bought stock) thay seem to always offer Free Mobos with there AMD procs. So was there one day and asked one of the guys who has been there for a while why, Answer nobody was buying the procs and they have a lot in stock. I asked if they were going to do that with Intel and was told not in the near future, Intel sells itself. now not to PO the Fanbois but that sounds a little like AMD aint sellin like they wish. I was a AMD fan for quite a while and may be again in the future but till then all my systems are C2D and quads. Oh and by the way there is a MC 15 min. from my house.

By the way nice catch OP let us know how it works out. Might have to go over and check it out for a budget build for a buddy of mine.
