Hit a wall, can't reach 4ghz [Phenom 955] - Page 4

Thread Starter
I removed two DIMMS and removed my system from my case. I get 53c loads on P95 Blend and it has been running for ten minutes without a hitch (Bench build.) (@1.475vCore)

EDIT: Just bluescreened after 15 minutes. Upping voltage to 1.50vCore

I'm buying a CM 690 II Advanced very soon so that will help with temps, and will order an EK HF240 or a XSPC Rasa 750 when i get paid next

Also, my Enzotech MST-88 arrived and contrary to a thread on this forum somewhere it doesn't fit my motherboard. iMad. Guess i should have checked the Enzotech Site

P95 has survived 20 minutes, however highest recorded temperature is wait for it.... 60 DEGREES! This is on a bench build.. I think it is necessary for me to upgrade to watercooling. Also, ambients in the room i'm in are about 14c

Isn't 1.5V too much for 4ghz on a C3? I would recomend you this settings (at least they worked for me before)

CPU V: 1.42
CPU/Nb: 1.3
CPU/NB speed : 2600Mhz

when I did that on my C3 it was 100% stable running 25 runs of IBT on max settings (it takes about 45minutes), I don't run prime95 because it's just too tedious I prefer to play BFBC2 though (yes if a cpu OC is unstable I would get a BSOD in the first 30-45 minutes or so) just my

Edit: that's too hot try not to let it go above 57C

Edit2: those 8gigs of ram are 2x4GB or 4x2GB??

I have 2x2gb in there right now. It was stable at 4.0ghz, i might just leave it there to be honest. I just wanted to have it 100% stable so that i could register on the 9x5 clubs charts.

I will return, armed with the Rasa 750. Thanks for all your help guys

Most often, yes, but not always. I've had my old 955 above 62c for short period of time and it was perfectly stable. It really depends on the chip. I say if you can hit 4.0Ghz on 1.5v and keep temperatures at 60c, go for it. Where's your NB speed at right now?

That is too hot my kiwi friend. I'm in QLD (ambient mid 20c) with really a similar setup to you and I am getting 56c max temp on IBT. I applied my TIM by putting a small pea sized dot in the center of the cpu. I have found this to work extremely effective, many sites/people will tell you many different elaborate ways to apply TIM, but this has worked very effective for me (and it gets in between all the grooves too).

Not true about the 55c error thing, can't speak for 60c my cpu has never hit that.

Yeah definately keep it under 55C, at stock speeds and voltages with the stock cooler mine would error at about 57. CM 690 II would be a big help, not much use having a good heatsink when the heat stays in the case and doesnt leave fast enough.
