I got my parts the other day and this happend :( - Page 5

Email that pic to NewEgg. Wait for response with fingers crossed...

If they tell you contact Asus, contact them and see what they suggest.

They can fix it, that I am positive of. They just may make you pay a little for it..

Whether or not you tell them it came that way or not is your choice.

Companies have whats called insurance, they write it off as a claim, receive payment for their cost of the board, fix it and sell it as "recertified" or "refurbished". So in the end they make more money off it then originally....

Whenever I have bent pins to fix I use the flat-head screwdriver that came in my $9 Dynex repair kit. Fits PERFECTLY into CPU's and CPU sockets. Try using a smaller flat-head that is NOT magnetic to fix the bent pins. Just be patient with it and remain calm during motherboard surgery.

EDIT:
IMHO, tell Newegg that UPS delivered the box with a dent in it.
You opened it up, and to your surprise, the socket was damaged. Now you're thoroughly angry and would like a replacement as soon as possible.

I think most places are pretty strict about pinland damage. They all ship with a guard, so they know it's user error. You'll have to talk with them.

I received an ASUS P5K Vanilla that had several bent pins right out of the box, so I can for a fact state that I've personally seen a damaged socket with the package still factory sealed too.

Same thing happend when building a PC for a friend, too many monkeys around fiddling with components and a flat head screwdriver was dropped ... bricks were shat

The damage was less on a per pin basis but a lot more pins were bent, after 30 mins of mobo surgery that seemd like 4 hours with various tools we were ready to test if the cpu would explode , it ran fine but we don't dare change the cooler ... ever

besides theres a older thread here: http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...cket-pins.html

Try straightening the pins with either a small flat non-magnetic screwdriver, or the tip of a mechanical pencil....

RMA is still an option, and ASUS may not make an issue of it-

Bent pins can easily be fixed. Take a mechanical pencil, stick the pins where lead comes out of, and "pull" it back to its regular spot.

My Phenom II 720 came with multiple pins bent severely and I managed to get it to work without any hiccups. (running since 04/2009)

Also seen a board come with bent pins... But how on earth did you manage to bend them like that in the first place? Please tell!

He must have really done something dumb if he's not posting up how it happened. I'm curious to know as well, and as a first time PC builder he has the right to screw up a little...but c'mon. I'm just too curious as to how this happened.

I don't think you guys understand what a land graph array is, the pins are not standard gold straight pins, they have like 2-3 bends in each pin and they are slanted.
