Disc tray won't close

Thread Starter
Last night I was going to try to burn an ISO onto a blank disc on Mac (hackintosh), so I inserted it opened up Disk Utility and started to burn it. After writing the track the disc poped out and it game me some error about being incompatible with something. I restarted into Windows and it gave me a similar error when trying, then it ejected the disc. So I gave up for the night.

Today I started up into Mac and somewhere during startup the tray ejected, then it started up. Every time I close the tray, it waits a second then ejects it again. (it's open right now ) In Disk Utility under the disk drive it says "Waiting for disk to be inserted" and in that brief time it stays closed it says "Waiting for the drive.". Every ten minutes it acts like I tried to close it (closes, pauses, opens).

In Windows it acts like I don't have a disk inserted. It stays closed, but no matter what I put in it just acts like it is empty. Same thing in the BIOS.

I put in two more drives this time (both IDE) and I get the same problem. The first one is SATA though, so this makes me think that it isn't the motherboard.

Any help appreciated.

It sounds to me like this "Disk Utility" needs to be removed (that is, if it's not some integrated thing in Mac OS). I believe that this would effectively "reset" everything, however I wouldn't attempt burning a second time.

Instead, I recommend using Windows 7 to burn an ISO image to a blank disc by just double-clicking the ISO in Windows 7 while a blank disc is in the drive.
