Cannot get my i7-930 setup to fold in VMWARE running Ubuntu

Thread Starter
As it says I am having an issue with VMWare, Ubuntu and my i7-930 with getting it to fold -bigadv Wu's. I can't just dual boot as my internet is from within Windows only (its a long story but trust me, it won't work in a Linux only environment). Can someone help me because I used the guides but still it will not work for me. I have it folding just within Windows but I'd like the PPD boost.

Just making sure you know, bigadv is native to windows now so you do not need to run VMWare anymore.
All you have to do is add -bigadv after -smp and it will get them.

What problems are you having within Ubuntu?

Really Chris... I'm not that much of a noob lol. I know how to do flags lol. I'm having problems with the whole setup. I can't find a straight forward FAH image to use(meaning that all of the images that I find are either for V7 or pre 6.34 clients) . Also when I go to install the image I get the IP from when it can't connect to the internet. Maybe we can hop on vent and you could help figure out just what part of it that I am noobing up lol.

You will get more PPD if you use Dual Boot method.

I can't. I use my cell phone tethered for internet and the program I use only works in Windows. I couldn't even download the software required to try and make it work because of lack of internet within Linux.

I never said you didn't know how to add them nor did I explain how to do so, I just said to add -bigadv.
Why are you using VMWare instead of doing it natively on Windows?...

Anyways not sure what your asking yet, the guides have the links to the clients you need.

Basically what I need to do is to run my i7-930 w/ -bigadv inside a Linux environment using VMWare as I am under the impression that I will get higher ppd by doing it that way. I'm just having a hell of a time setting it up and getting it to play nice.

How exactly have you been trying? Have you tried just downloading VMWare Player, installing Ubuntu onto it, and then using the Ubuntu Client v7?

One of the v7 clients has an architecture problem which is preventing it from installing correctly, not sure which one though.
That is why I pointed him to v6 just in case that was the issue.
