J.H.Christ!!

I've only just finished making the jump from 754 to AM3, and now it looks like I'll be needing an AM3+ board so I can start the glacially slow process of upgrading AGAIN!!

But seriously, I'm interested in how BD pans out, but, like Phenom, will be more interested in how BDII looks, when it comes around!!

...by then, I may have saved enough for a new cpu!

...and what happens when all this becomes obsolete, because DDR4 ram becomes available?? Supported, or not?? :/

DDR4 when released will probably be sky high in price until it comes down to around the same price tag as DDR3, still a long way to go yet

...my point is, even after all this waiting, it will, if not supported, mean yet another change of CPU/mobo?!

Oh, the inexorable 'snowball effect' of the pursuit of perfection! :/

1st Generation of Bulldozer's will be using DDR3, but I presume the 2nd generation of Bulldozer might incorporate DDR4? I don't know, but the 2nd gen might use Tri Channel memory

Can't understand why ppl are going mad w8 for BD... the release is in June... so... why ppl get mad if everything is so clear as water? The absence of benchmarks? Not knowing nothing about it?

I mean, no one has been hiding anything from us ... the launch date was talked about at least, 2 months ago ...

So keep it real and don't sell your gear right away without checking if it's a good upgrade or not? ( my 2 cents... it's going to be an hell of an upgrade, even for me )

Just wait it out...
I said eff waiting. The thing is, even if BD is 10% faster than SB clock for clock, that is 10% that I'm not really using. I learned that going from a Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz to a Sandy Bridge @ 4.8 Ghz doesn't FEEL any different. When I went from a single core to a dual, first went from 512 MB RAM to 2 GB RAM, went from a ATI 9600 to a 8800GT and (eventually) going from HDD to SSD - those are changes you can FEEL...

Going from Quad @ 3.2 Ghz to Quad @ 4.8 Ghz...not nearly as much

Do I regret it - not in the least. It cost me $350 to get an SLI mobo (old one wasn't) + SB chip + going from 4 GB DDR2 1000 Mhz to 8 GB DDR3 1667 Mhz + going from a GTX 260 to a 6870....no regret...

I'm just saying - it really wasn't necessary - just like 10% more CPU performance won't feel any different and won't affect me at all

I have no interest in buying bull dozer, but I am stocked to stare at my computer screen when the benchmarks come out. Seriously. I enjoy that kind of thing. So I am waiting with bated breath for there to be some leaks!

Well, theres a leaked AMD Llano vs. Sandy Bridge demo. Whatever thats worth.

In the meantime, I have resorted to reviving an old Celeron system and packed it full of HDD's so I can at least tinker with a HTPC.
