Option to trade, Worth it?

A friend of mine wants to try out nvidia for a change and he offered his XFX 5870 for my Palit GTX 470...I looked up a few benchmarks on the 5870 and it seems to be around a 10% or so increase on most benchmarks. Would you say it'd be worth it?

I believe the 470 overclocks higher than the 5870 so your OC'ed GTX 470 is faster.

I could be wrong though.

Each card will perform different in specific games, but overall they are rather equal performance. Does his XFX card have double lifetime warranty? If so, it would be a good deal if you can register it and still have a lifetime warranty.

I would just keep the 470. Also be wary of some of those benchmarks, as they don't include driver updates with game specific performance fixes.

Unless you really want a 5870, for whatever reason.

HD5870 is better in 3D Mark which is irrelevant when it comes to gaming. Also, I suggest anandtech updates their stuff.

Here's an updated website that tested both cards with the latest drivers both stock and overclocked:

http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...0_hd5850/8.htm

The GTX 470 gains a lot more performance from OCing and it's already faster at stock speeds.

Also, the HD5xxx series aren't very good at tesselation and I heard they have much lower minimum FPS.

The only good trade would be HD6950 for GTX 470 imo.

Go ahead, just try it before hand and make sure he isn't trading you a overclocking dud. They are relatively the same performance, whichever of the two overclocks better wins.
