will i notice a difference?

Will I notice any difference in temps between using an xspc rs240 vs an rx240 for a single i7 2600k that is overclocked to 4.6ghz. No video cards. Cpu only. Reason im asking this is because the rs i can mount internally but the rx i cannot. Im getting sick of looking at my external mount radiator.

I guess my main question is: Is my 2600k dumping enough heat to even need an rx240? or would the rs240 yeild identical results? I dont have enough tubing to do any comparisons. That and its a pain to bleed my loop and redo it.

No difference unless you upgrade your fans.
You're most likely just fine with either as long as you don't need super low temps. I'm guessing you're using Yate looms? Meh. But maybe you can add a push-pull system with the smaller rad? That will def keep you cool...

The RX has lower fin count so you can use lower RPM fans for better cooling. Up to you man , you can get better temps on the RS if you buy higher RPM fans becuase the RS has higher fin count.

Ok but if same fans used on both radiators, same performance? I mean for my setup. I know the rx is the better of the two for lots of heat, but these new 32nm CPUs don't put off alot of heat.

Im using ap-15s I forgot to mention that, also doesn't the rx increased thickness make up for the fin count vs the rs?

p15s are fine. Once you hit 1800 rpm then rad performance equalizes out. This review is for 360s, but I think it probably scales

But those are all thick radiators. Im trying to determine if my rx is going to yeild better results than my rs for just my cpu. I probably should have mentioned, i already own both radiators. the rs isnt being used right now as i have the rx installed. The rs came with my kit and i upgrade to the rx because my previous (lynfield) cpu was running hot.

I guess the only way i will find out for sure is to do some thorough testing. I hate changing out my loop What a pain it is. But i really dislike having to look at my radiator everyday. Looks awkward outside of the case.

edit: i guess i could always buy a haf 932 and sell my 922 and then internal mount my rx. Thats more money though.

oops, sorry. I thought the RS was in that roundup. I know i've seen the RS in a review before.

I'm really surprised that the old CPU was running hot, but if it did before - it probably will now. Define hot Can you fit a push-pull on the RS? That will improve your temps

Not in my current case, if i did push pull the push fans would have to be external. Right now i have the rx top mounted with push fans, and the pull fans are internal. The rs will barely fit internal with push fans. It was less then 1/4mm from touching my ram tabs the last time i had it in.

My old cpu was a i7 860, with a vid of 1.175. I had it going at 4.2ghz at 1 point for benchmarks at 1.42vcore and with the rs it would spike past 80c sometimes. thats when i upgrade to the rx, and it did drop my temps a couple C.

But lynnfield's have an insanely high tdp when overclocked past 4ghz. these new 32nm sandy bridge cpu's arent like that. The rx served me very well with my 860, im just wondering if i need it with my new 2600k. I do have some head room right now, my temps never pass 70c but i plan on overclocking more.
