Possible overheat?

Hey all!

I just recently bought the game Minecraft (great game, some of you might say otherwise), which is a highly RAM-intensive game with 16x16 graphics At times, while playing the game, my computer chrashes, leaving me unable to do anything and forcing me to manually shut down the computer by holding the boot-button. I downloaded two programs that monitors my temperatures, as I felt that my computer was getting really hot when playing it. Sometimes my temperatures are at 88 degrees. Is this not waay over the recommended temp?

Thanks.

Is the 88 degrees celsius or fahrenheit? Are the temps from your CPU or GPU?

The degrees is 88 celsius. It is both the CPU and GPU according to SpeedFan. They vary with a couple of degrees celsius.

OK, if it's 88c on the CPU, yeah that's way high. For a GPU though, it's a little high. That is most likely the reason you are freezing and forced to do a 'hard reboot'.

EDIT: Also, you don't have a case listed in your system specs. What is your case, and do you have a link to it to see what it looks like for air flow?

This is not a desktop-computer but a laptop. It has a 1,5(height)x4(width)cm cooler in the back. I have no idea what's inside it. My computer spec is the one for my desktop not laptop.
I have a hunch I've already tried blowing some air in the cooler, and there's no dust that i can see.
Ran a DXDiag:

I have a hunch I've already tried blowing some air in the cooler, and there's no dust that i can see.
Ran a DXDiag:

OK, well since it's a laptop, I think that's your reason right there. Since laptops are already confined space as it is, proper cooling and ventilation is key. Also, your GPU in the laptop is a rather old one, and you have 2009 drivers according to that DXDIAG. You can try updating the drivers for it, but I'm not sure that's going to help much. I think that the game you are trying to play may just be a bit too much for the laptop.
