Asus N10J Netbook / Notebook Self Repair Questions

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
I have a chance to get myself an Asus N10J for $45 AUD.
There are a few problems though;

- The LCD Screen is cracked.
- The HDD is missing.
- It doesn't come with a charging cable.
- The Battery is missing.
- The top lid is damaged.

Getting a new battery / cable / HDD is not a problem at all, but the other two things are a bit of a problem. Where will I get parts for this? I don't know anywhere that will sell a lid for the top of the laptop, as in; the outer casing. I also don't know what to do about the screen.

Can I just buy any Asus 10" screen and fit it?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

I just found a screen for this laptop fairly cheap.

Worth buying?

Well, if I'm right, the N10J has a GF 9300 inside instead of the usual Intel graphics. And although it won't play a lot of games it will do better than a GMA 3150.

Also bear in mind it would run much better on 7 or Ubuntu.

I am basing it on these specs btw: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220386

tl;dr under $120 AUD for better than netbook spec? Hell yes.
