New Build Freezing (Win7 Ultimate) -- Advice Please? - Page 2

Starting to do that. Trying the small voltage increments too.

Windows Memory Diagnostic came back clean.
Sound Blaster & Driver removal did not fix

Have memtest ready to go. May try Prime95 just to see what happens.

Played some Crysis last night on max settings beautifully, system up for 6 hours before freeze.

Thanks for all the advice so far, will keep posted on progress but at least I have a little direction now to start troubleshooting, much appreciated.

Hey, I think I have the same problem as you... I get system freezes time to time and they last approx. 15 sec before it returns to normal. Along with this I have screeching sound, video freeze. Same issue, I did a clean install of Windows 7 and it didn't fix this issue.

Summary of what I have done that doesn't work:
- Clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64
- Used only stock drivers
- Memtest the ram several times, even increased voltage from 1.65v to 1.675v @ 1600MHz 9-9-9-24. Also ran the tests at stock settings of 1066MHz and 1333MHz of 1.5v (PASS, no errors)
- Cleared BIOS and updated to latest one too. Cleared again several times.
- Changed SATA type from ACHI to IDE
- Changed SATA cables, tried all SATA Ports on board.

I haven't gotten a single BSOD with this machine. Windows Event Log shows no critical errors.

LOL, thats sounds like overkill. Anyways, I did format the drive once outside the system. Quick format of course.

Testing this:
- Using both usb plugs on the external drive.
- Does it freeze without the usb hdd?

no need to really dban unless your getting rid of your hd. reformat should be fine.

this is begining to sound like a bad mobo if you cant not isolate the problem to another component.

I just had a freeze right now. It lasted for approx. 20 sec. and the loading cursor was spinning, after 10 secs into the freeze it stopped. Screeching sound. I unplugged all the usb drives.

Testing to see if the system freezes without the ext. hdd.

this is a long shot, but have you checked temps on your cpu? are you sure your hsf is properly seated?

Temps are super low. That's one reason I don't wan't to RMA.

IDLE - 21*c
LOAD - 57*c

Load is basically using P95 Blend for 3hrs. Same temp if i do Small FFTs overnight.
Heat sink is properly seated.
