Is an IPS monitor worth it over a TN? - Page 5

Maybe I'll check out the apple store.

I understand about the price per dollar increase but I find that every few weeks something i read here gets in my head and I have to hold myself back.....

I am now sitting here with a u2711 ready to hit confirm order.... I saw the apple cinema display but it is glossy screen so can I really compare the picture?

Lets say money isn't that important - will I be wowed with the difference from my samsung?

Yeah, I think I am going to save the cash and wait...

I'd like to see an IPS monitor VS my monitor with my eyes before I spend all my 200€ cash into the Dell IPS monitor....

Heard of many friends that told me it isn't worth the upgrade for gaming frown.gif

Yes, the cinema display only has a mini-display port input. Also no monitor settings, it's all done via other software, so it's not the best to calibrate. I wouldn't really recommend it over the Dell. I use a 27" Apple Cinema at work and although it looks nice I prefer my 24" HP IPS monitor, it has VESA stand, in-monitor settings and NOT glossy.

I think you'll be blown away - monitor resolutions that high on an IPS panel are a sight to behold. My only concern would be the performance drop in games, so I'd make sure that you have the funds to go SLI if that 570 doesn't perform up to your standards.

Also, I'm amused by your previous post. You gave the monitor an entire day of thought, which I'm guessing is better than many of the users here, including myself. biggrin.gif

That's around 186€ isntead of the 220-225€ from the store I was going to buy it from! eek.gif

I think I am going to pull the trigger on it eek.gif

What is with you people and shooting your high priced electronic goods?

If you cannot tell the difference between an IPS and TN monitor, you may be color blind and not know it.

On IPS monitors, reds are reds. On TN monitors, reds show up as orange-red.

Funny you say that, I sold an IPS for a TN

I cannot differentiate between orange and yellow most of the time... I think I might be color blind...
