Overclocking with Dual Channel RAM

Thread Starter
Hey Guys,

OK quick question, I have the Abit IC7-MAX3 motherboard with 4 sticks of 1GB ram running in dual channel mode. My Cpu is intel P4 2.6Ghz (I know!). OK so by my understanding, to get maximum system performance you need the FSB and Ram ratio in 1:1 right? so lets say my ram runs at 200Mhz (each stick), and the Fsb runs at 200Mhz, is that 1:1? or do i need to divide by 4? I'm really confused and any help would be appreciated, I've tried looking for information on this but can't seem to find any frown.gif

Thanks in advance!

FSB:RAM if its 1:1 that means there both at 200 mhz, but then for ram you double the speed, so its at 400mhz.

DDR = Double Data RATE so multiply your freq by 2 and theres ur actual speed

CPU = QDR QUAD DATA RATE, multiply the FSB by 4 and THATS your rated FSB those should be synchronized but also 5:4 is a good ratio.

FSB:Memory Clock.

200:400 is 1:1 due to the 200 Mhz of each memory stick being doubled (i.e. dual channel).

Thanks guy for all the input!
So if I set the memory timing to 200Mhz and the FSB to 400Mhz, that should be 1:1 right?

Thx again!
