Updated Windows - No USBs working?

So all of my USBs were working last night before I shut down my computer, but this morning when I started it up none of them were. I BELIEVE there were a few updates on shut down, although I don't remember perfectly - but either way it's definitely an OS problem. When I'm in the BIOS the keyboard and mouse work fine but as soon as Windows starts up they die.

Here's what I've tried:

Safe mode - No luck
Boot from Windows CD to repair to earlier date - No luck since I have no backups or anything of that sort...
Unplug power from computer for 30 secs and reboot - No luck

What I'd really like to do is uninstall all of my drivers and reboot except I obviously can't do that because I don't have a keyboard or mouse.

I even have a PS/2 connector on my wireless device for another keyboard and mouse but for some reason that won't plug into my computer no matter how hard I try.

Does anyone have an intelligent solution other than to go out and buy a new PS/2 keyboard? I suppose I could back up my hard drive on a friend's computer although I'd really like to not go to that trouble - I also need to use this computer ASAP.

Thanks.

Right so the good news is the usb ports arnt bugered.

Im going to guess you've installed Sp1 if so you will need to roll back the updates, and hopefully this will bring back your usb ports.

Have you checked device manager? if so are they showing they are installed or have you got the Yellow symbol?

Have u tried to re-install the usb drivers?

Well I can't because I don't have a keyboard or mouse to use...

Do you know an easy way to roll back updates?

I know it sucks to do, but have you tried just re-installing Windows?

Yay I got an old PS/2 keyboard to work after jamming it in for 5 minutes... :/

So literally every single network adapter, Sound video game, and Universal serial bus controller has the yellow exclamation point. Would anyone have a suggestion as to what direction I should go from here?

Well I don't want to lose all of my data... There has to be an easier, less time consuming solution - especially now that I have a keyboard.

I said reinstall, not uninstall and reinstall . You won't lose anything by installing over top. Once you get back in with your PS/2, a "sfc /scannow" wouldn't hurt anything.

Ah, sounds like a chipset issue.

^ That's for W7-64, so if that's not what you have, you might have to search again for your OS. Download and reinstall any chipset drivers.

Yeah I looked at my Windows update history and the only thing updated was Microsoft Security Essentials so I doubt that messed anything up (although it's possible).

Could I just install the drivers from my mobo disc and then update? I can't connect to the internet on that computer clearly :/

Dont know if anyone said this yet, but have you simply tried to unplug the keyboard/mouse once in windows and then plug them back in and see if they work? had this happen on my Asus Crosshair IV formula and simply had to unplug, then plug it back in for it to "power" up
