RAM Cooling

Thread Starter
Hey All,

I have a GIGABYTE 890FXA-UD5 MOBO and have RAM sticks in all 4 slots. I've been looking at RAM coolers but can't seem to find a finite answer to my question so I figured I'd turn to the experts. Is there any cooler out there that will cover all 4 sticks of RAM on this board, or no? If not, what are my options?

Thanks!

Save the money, dont buy a "Ram cooler" wast of money, Pick a fan, and get creative on how to mount it pointed at your ram, Personaly Ram coolers and ram heatsinks are useless, but this is an opinion. If your worried about RAM temps point a 80MM fan at them zip tie's or velcro to mount it.

May I ask why your worried about RAM temps?

You don't even need to bother to cool RAM anymore.

I plan on getting into overclocking soon, and from what I've read there really isn't such a thing as having a PC running too cool regardless. From my understanding 1333 doesn't get very warm anyway, but I put a decent sized chunk of change into this rig, so anyway I can drop temperatures on any components to make them run better/last longer sounds good to me. It's more for my peace of mind than anything. Paranoid, perhaps. Haha.

Ram coolers and heatsinks are useless. have a proper ventlated case, and use sence when placeing fans. I use CM690IIAD, with TOP intake fan's, my ram stays nice and cool.

If you want to save your rig while OCing, Spend money of a good flowing case if you dont already have one, next would be an uber cooler. D-14/Silver Arrow/Arcon/Frio/Megahelms for best OC results, I stay away from Hybrid Watercoolers (h50/60/70) due to cost Vs performance. Silver Arrow has me nice and cool at a good OC

Lastly, play with fan placement inside the case, or start looking into better fans. hope this helps your quest to OC

also hardware will sweat if over cooled. Not going to happen on air though.

Thanks all for the quick reply and saving me an unnecessary $20. Let me ask then whether or not my case setup is correct/good enough:

COOLERMASTER HAF 922

Intakes
200mm Front Intake (110CFM)
120mm Front Intake (Bought a COOLERMASTER 4 in 3 HDD bay. The top 2 5.25” bays are occupied by optical drives, and the bottom 3 by this) (69CFM)
200mm Side Intake (110CFM)
120mm Bottom Intake (69CFM)

Exhausts
200mm Top Exhaust (110CFM)
120mm Rear Exhaust (69CFM)
EVERCOOL SB-F2 Case Blower (42CFM) located at the bottom taking 2 PCI slots
EVERCOOL SB-F1 Case Blower (42CFM) located on top of the video card with the intake fan facing down to draw heat off of it, taking up 1 slot.

So is this enough (I’d hope so) and is the configuration correct? Should I reverse any of the fans?

Also as a side note, how it is possible the F1 and F2 are listed as the same CFM, does anyone know offhand? I would think the F2 would draw more air?

Thanks again!

EDIT- I realized this isn't really the topic of this thread, so I won't keep trying to get a response here, I'll open a new thread with an appropriate tile.

I just rubber banded a fan to my RAM clips. if you really need it just do that, for me it keeps it cool to the touch.
