Super Noob Anti-Virus Question.

Thread Starter
This is my first time getting rid of all my antivirus programs, so I just want to know; If I uninstall the antivirus, will all of the viruses in the virus chest be deleted of my computer as well? I know this is a serious noob question, but I ask because avast did not give me an option to remove things in the vault during the uninstall and AVG did. So basically were the viruses in the avast vault removed?

1. Uninstall ALL your AVs. Don't worry about deleting them from any quarantines, etc.

2. Run CCleaner.

3. Run a scan with Malwarebytes to clean up anything left over.

What the hell, I uninstalled AVG, But the AVG Free edition is still running on my comp and won't go away. It won't let me uninstall it.

If I just delete the AVG folder from program files, will that fix the problem?

First if you don't have CCleaner Download it at www.piriform.com

Second, Open CCleaner and hit tools, Go to startup and disable Avg from starting up. Restart

Third, Open CCleaner again go to tools find avg hit Uninstall and instead of trying to uninstall it, delete the entry.

Fourth, Go to program files ( C:, Program Files(or Program Files(x86))) find avg and delete the folder. restart

Fifth, Run Ccleaner, and the registry cleaner.

There you go Avg is uninstalled.

Yeah man, think of the virus chest as a way for the anti virus program to know what kind of virus it is for next time? The viruses in the chest have already been removed and deleted.
