So the project cafe, nintendo's new console has been confirmed. Here are the rumoured tech specs...
"CPU is custom IBM PowerPC with three cores,
GPU should be an ATI from the R700 family, with a shader unit at version 4.1. RAM should be at least 512 MB"
R700 family is of course the Radeon 4XXX family.
So it sounds like a souped up xbox 360
I was kinda hoping for directx 11 and a whole bunch of ram, but oh well.
That actually sounds really advanced for Nintendo. I still can't believe the Wii is successful without HD. I guess the average consumer doesn't care about graphics or strategic gameplay. They just want to play mindless novelty games. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for the big N.
