How will 3d perform on my rig ??

Hi Guys,

After receiving a good deal of advices from a majority of experts of OCN, I ended up rejecting one of the contenders of my upcoming rig... the i7 970.....

So the rig will have the ::::::
Intel i7 2600k ( will overclock well enough )
Asus Maximus IV Extreme
Asus GTX 580 x 2 in 2 way SLI

I have a part of my budget still left which I planned for the i7 970 but as I am going to game, just purely game on my rig..... so reverted back to the 2600k as being advised.........

So now I think of getting the Nvidia Stereoscopic 3D up for my rig.......

So what do you guys think how will it perform for games having settings maxed out.... ??

Thanks Guys,
Dev.........

Maybe on most games, 30 fps.

Looks good. The main thing will be the display resolution you'll be running at. Even though nVidia has been good about updating the 3D drivers to increase the FPS, it still takes a toll on your system. Unless you're looking for a 30" monitor, I think you'll system should be able to handle a 22"-27" just fine.

3D actually forces V-sync, and u cant un-vsync it . Thats why fps drop other than the fact that the cards now render twice fps. I think ull play it very nicely for 1080p in 3d...

Off Topic:
Is 3D really that demanding?
I thought it was just a side feature that wouldn't really impact fps.

expect between 40-70 on games, becuase 3d cuts fps in half, though there are a lot of settings disabled in 3d because theyre not compatible

120Hz is needed for 3D

120Hz will make the games appear smoother.

Without 3D your VSync will be capped at 120FPS due to the refresh rate.
