560ti

Thread Starter
I purchased a 560ti and don't intend on making any modifications to the card but was thinking that perhaps placing a fan blowing down on the PCB would help with cooling. Also this wouldn't require any modifications that would void my warranty. Anybody have thoughts on this or tried this?

It wouldn't really as the fan isn't choked at all. If the card is in SLI then sometimes the top card can block the bottom's intake.

If you have the twin frozr II the card already runs cool. I would angle the fan so it can blow across the memory chips and so forth.

Its a galaxy card. Here are pictures. I don't have temps yet since I don't have my rig up and running. I had a VRM on my motherboard burn out and it Killed both my CPUs. Since the Sempron was only 32 bucks it wasn't worth the RMA but now I have a cool Heat spreader key chain. Waiting on the Phenom X6 to get shipped back form AMD. The Phenom passed V/M inspection and they said it was shipped Friday.

My current max temp is 47 degrees Celsius while playing GTA IV with Fan speed 100%. It only hovers around 20-30% GPU usage while playing.

If you're going to supplement your cards cooling with independent fans, then place on perpendicular to the fan on the card. Some cases (such as the HAF series from Cooler Master) have a mounting point on the case door specifically assisting the cooling of graphics cards. Note however, that you won't see a huge decrease in temps.

EDIT: BTW those temps are excellent, might want to just throttle the fan speed down a bit. Do you have the fan in a manual mode?

I tend to agree with Kaosuonline.

I have a UK 2000 sitting on the side of my case, blowing cool air across the side of the card. It went from 32c to 28c idle. Under load (folding) it went from 68c to 59c. (ambients 24c). Id recommend trying it.

What is a safe maximum for these 560TI GPUs? I used MSI afterburner to set the temp to 100%

Dial it down around 78ºC (if you ever hit that...)

Do you mean you set the fan speed to 100%? It is fine to leave it on AUTO, don't get me wrong, if you can take the noise that it gives off then you can leave it. The fans reliability lifespan is rated with them running @ 100%

I would leave it on auto tho, Afterburner will adjust graciously!
