Do you mean you set the fan speed to 100%? It is fine to leave it on AUTO, don't get me wrong, if you can take the noise that it gives off then you can leave it. The fans reliability lifespan is rated with them running @ 100%

I would leave it on auto tho, Afterburner will adjust graciously!
the galaxy heat sink fans are super quiet compared to my brothers EVGA 560ti SOC heat sink fan. but my whole computer is noisy the stock 1090T heat sink fan is noisy and so is all my case fans. I'd set it to auto when i'm just web browsing or watching tv or a movie. generally the game over powers the fan.

I have a reference EVGA card that has just a side panel fan on it. Runs fine.
