j/ks, everyone knows its not ever going to be released.
Honestly, this could be interesting.

But no player is worth of playing the Alyx Vance. Maybe Barney...

Hmm

Valve should realise that Gameplay is better than graphics as their Source engine isn't exactly way out there.

They know that the Story is what makes the game (Half Life) and its not all about just killing people. OK CS:S and a few other games are one offs, but i think im right in saying that the majority of gamers prefer and amazing story and gameplay with multi-player on the side rahter than just mp

Gaming sucks ballsack lately. I buy all of these new games, yet am still playing CoD4 and old PSX JRPGS. The industry is just going to cater to all the "'tards" who fall for any sort of marketing aimed in their general direction, the same with every other industry. Someone could solve world hunger it seems, and unless they could profit off of the idea significantly, it would never see the light of day. Profit profit profit. I know that's the way the world works, but I can hold the opinion that it sucks. Going off on a little bit of a rant there, but hearing stuff like this about Valve, one of the cornerstones of PC gaming, can do that to a guy.

We are lucky that they even make games although Steam generates millions and millions of monies. Let's not rage here until we see any results. It's VALVE people!

I played the Secret of Monkey Island (1990) and Monkey Island 2 (1991) dozens of times over the years, the same with Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis; I've spent countless hours playing the Half-Life 2 series, and I've always found new things to enjoy in these games - different ways to accomplish the same task, different dialogues that reveal interesting stuff, jokes, adding to the fact it's always nice to play such masterpieces again. Even Crysis has a huge replay value - you can complete a given "task" in so many different ways there is at least a 2 replays value in it.

Such masterpieces take time to make and are remembered by the community; don't get me wrong, I have spent many hours playing Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, and enjoyed every moment of it, but it's a different experience - I'd call them "The perfect snack" - they are certainly not being remembered for the story, but instead for the kind of experience that works in Co-op. The kind that means you can just get in on the action and do it - because there is no real big deal of a story to it really.

I have great respect for Valve, but I have some reservations about doing this in the Half-Life series - even if you can do it in Single Player. They are geniuses, perhaps they can pull it off, but for now I'm reserving judgment.

It's a big risk, because there will always be a place for SP, just like there is for movies and radio, like I said in the previous post. And if Valve doesn't play it right, another company will take it's place.

In a way, Valve took Lucas Arts place when it realized that adventures would have to be transitioned to a 3D environment and be made more life-like in the way you interact with what surrounds you. They did it with Half-Life 2, and then they did it with Portal. Portal is another masterpiece in the way it proves you don't have to incorporate the shooter element to make the game fun, challenging and make you think. With Portal Valve completed the transition traditional adventure games needed to make it successfully into the 21st century.

Not really. Valve is still one of the best developers/companies out there. They've done so much for PC gaming and not to mention how much they help out other independent developers.

Because kotaku is a stellar example of journalistic accuracy and excellence and they always bother to fact check before posting things. And thats when they bother to post news that is directly related to gaming at all.
They will post anything from anyone if it gets them page hits. Especially if its blatantly inflammatory. Its not like they have a history of taking things out of context for the ad revenue or anything.
And their commitment to sexism and misogyny in gaming is stunning.

I call shenanigans.
Now where are my brooms...
