I'm running a Seagate 500 right now and haven't had any issues. Again, Storage drive I could care less, something just around $60 that's 1TB.

The samsung F3 *which is rather popular is just $64.99 ^_^, $5 above your budget.

Then F3 it is. Just take the Noctua out of the equation. I like the Silver Arrow better anyhow. This is how I look at an h70. If I'm going to spend that kind of money on a "water cooling" setup that is equal to or less performance then that of a high end air cooler, I'm gonna take air. I say with water cooling, you go big or you go home. Anything else? Thanks a lot for the input!

hehe, exactly yeh, might as well get a D14 or SA, but I'm not sure if the vengeance will clear with SA though?

edit: Can always choose one of those G-skills with low profile fins instead of teh vengeance? **In case the vengeance doesnt clear with the SA or D14

Ripjaws will not clear them either...
It "kind of" does clear, but it ends up warping the mobo anyways.

I would go for H70 or Thermalright Archon.
Note that the Archon is a very tall cooler. So, watch out if your case can fit it or not.

Here's my revised build:

Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Black -> NZXT Phantom OR HAF 932
Processor: Intel i7 2600K -> i5-2500k (save money here if you don't 3D-render or render videos heavily in general)
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Blue DDR3 4GB 1600 (I'd personally go with 8gb of ram but this is your call)
Graphics Card: MSI GTX 560 Hawk -> HD 6950 (unlock it to 6970 and you win)
SDD: OCZ Vertex 2 60GB -> Crucial C300 64GB (I had the worst experience with OCZ Vertex 2's as they failed on me + they gave me a 25nm version which has worse spec than advertised... Note that C300's have a rather horrible writing speed for a SSD, but you don't really need great writing speed for a boot drive)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB -> Samsung F3 1TB (Save money for a better item!)
Power Supply: XFX 650 Watt Modular
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Silver Arrow -> Thermalright Archon (IF you want your vengence ram, but see if this cooler will fit into the case... It WILL fit the HAF 932, but not the phantom unless you remove the side fan. You can always go for other great air coolers out there like the H70, Venomous X, etc. Plenty of good options here)

You could try with a thermalright archon. They are tall beast, very tall ones. But they will allow you to make use of all your ram slots. They come close to the nh-d14 or the silver arrow while using a single fan. so you might consider that too.

Buy an i5 2500k instead.Save a hundred bucks and you won't know the difference.Gaming would be the same with either cpu.

Can always switch to a H70 if all else fails and you still want to stick with vengeance?
This ^ you should go with an h70 since you're building a work station
