Urgent! 5684WLMI!

Thread Starter
Guys, if I ever needed you, I need you now. My mom has fried my dad's laptop (keyboard) and the right side can't work, she's crying, he's pissed off, and I'm in the middle. Can it be replaced? Just the keyboard?

Well, how did it happen? Spill of some kind? A drop? Overheated meltdown?

try reseating the fragile ribon cable under the KB. If it doesn't work, goto NBR forums and ask around where a cheap replacement can be found.

Explain more please? What caused the keyboard to stop working? Did the laptop get dropped or something? It's hard to diagnose a problem and offer fixes when we don't know what actually happened. Tried plugging in a USB keyboard?

You should be able to replace the keyboard without too much trouble if it does turn out to be completely dead. Here is a guide that shows how to remove a keyboard, it is a different model number than yours but it should be the same procedure. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disass...-5610z-laptop/

Link to replacement keyboard on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Black-UK-Keyboar...item2eb2d5784f

You might also try contacting Acer to get a price for one as well.

A USB keyboard would be a replacement, anyways tell your parents that the keyboard is easily replaceable.
There's one in German: http://www.notebook-doctor.com/it-pi...Id-497501.html
