Intel Upgrade due to freezing.

Thread Starter
Hi guys i'm looking to upgrade my current rig do to the fact that its always freezing up on me. Every 20 mins to 2 hours. I tried everything from replacing the memory to replacing my video card to updating the bios to even replacing the HDD with a solid state drive and starting fresh with windows 7. So my conclusion is it has to be one of 3 things : my processor, my MB or my Power supply. So instead of waisting MORE time then i have already i have decided to replace all 3 even though my current setup was more than enough for my gaming and computing needs... if it worked.

Looking to Replace my Q9450 , EVGA 790i SLI mb and 800 watt power supply.

I'm looking to stay with Intel and would love some suggestions for around 450$ upgrade. I would consider Overclocking but for now i just want a stable system.

Keep in mind what i already have:
Case: Cosmos S
Memory: 4GB 1333 DDR3
SDD : 64 GB
HDDs: 1tb WD black, 2x 150GB wd raptors
Radeon HD 5770
27 inch monitor , Razor Keyboard and mouse
will use onboard sound

Oh, that's not that bad.

I'm just worried that you'll spend all this money on the upgrades only for the freezing to continue.

How long has it been freezing up?

for about a year and a half lol.. I spent like 3000$ for the rig back in 2008 (DDR3 was a lot hehe i even had a 9800GX2 in it at first which was 550$ at the time) so all the componants are top notch sept for evga MB which i took a risk on should have stuck with ASUS probably and not spend 300$ on a evga MB.

Anyways i know its not the Memory or Video card or HDD or operating system for sure cause they have all been replaced and it still freezes. I updated the BIOs several times, updated all the drivers constantly. I have even tuned the processor down or underclocked it to see if it would help but nope. Still freezes randomly usualy in games or under stress so i thought it might be due to high temps but they are all decent temps.... i give up.. time to sell the farm at this point i dont have time for this **** lol. What to get tho for 450 or less?

I know that you underclocked it, however even that can create instability since it's out of spec.

Was there a time when the entire system worked fine? I am hoping that maybe we can narrow it down to one thing and save some money.
