MY current RAM is great for overclocking, I've gotten it up to 1866 with tighter timings than stock. Also indicative of my CPU's memory controller, because I don't think most C2 Athlon/Phenoms would get much farther than 1400. But it gets to around 3.5, anything after that requires insane amounts of voltage, 3.6ghz tops.

Edit: one of my friends just offered me a phenom II x4 for $50, I believe he has the 3.2ghz version, just have to wait a few weeks.
