Good PC headset - Page 3

Advice would be :

1. ATH-AD700 (best gaming headset there is, massive soundstage = good positional sound) $100
2. Cheap X-fi card that has CMSS-3D (you need this) $30
3. Zalman mic

This gives you an infinitely upgradeable setup, onboard/usb is just bad. This is also very very good for music, maybe just need to EQ low-end due to lack of it in the AD700s.

I can vouch for the AD700s there nearly all metal and so take a beating. Mine are 3 years old been to lans etc and chucked about on a daily basis.
I am thinking about going with the same AD700 plus Zalman mic setup and have a X-Fi Extreme Audio but why CMSS-3D? I really haven't used it but what does that add? Just curious.

Thanks

I'm glad you made this thread I'm looking for a $50 < headphones.

I was putting my eyes in the Razer Orca set, but even though I love green I'm not sure about the bright green and wearing those in public. Also I I'm not sure if they are worth the price are the price is just hyped by the brand name.

If you want a headset that is compatible with both PC and Xbox, there's pretty much only one solution in that price range -- the

. Otherwise, you'll need to buy an adapter like the SteelSeries Xbox 360 Headset Adapter, SteelSeries Spectrum Audio Mixer, Turtle Beach DSS, or Astro Gaming MixAmp. Needless to say, all of these solutions are way above your budget once you factor in a PC headset along with the adapter, so really there's just the X11 if you want plug n' play compatibility with both platforms in that price range. To be honest, I don't think the sound quality you'll get with the X11 is worth the money, so I would say just get a PC headset for now and get the adapter for Xbox 360 compatbility later when you've got more money.

Save your money. Pick up some g930s when you have the funds. Pc only but totally worth it. Or trittons. More expensive, but can be used on 360 & ps3 as well as pc. But dont sound as good imo. G35s are nice too. But g930 has the wireless factor going for them.

I have a pair of these and have found them to be great so far (only had them a few weeks)

Plantronics Gamecon 777
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-066-_-Product

Sound seems good to me, they don't have a lot of bass thump, but they are not tinny either. Overall the sound quality seem's very good to me and they seem to have a good range of sound. They are also excellent for gaming, I play CS:S and can tell exactly where every footstep and gunshot is coming from. The mic is very clear, and the headset overall is very comfortable, although I remember reading you should avoid them if you have a large head (wide).
