Corsair H60 Push Pull Fan Recommendations? - Page 2

first link looks like its based out of UK, by time something was ordered and shipped I could just wait for that 2nd link to have them in stock.

Looking at the 2nd Link, not sure if their North America based or what, looking at the .us site, most descriptions look like their in Dutch, Scandinavian, or German for items?

I just went ahead and ordered 2 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835608004

along with a 140mm Xigmatek for the case (replace front fan with a better CFM one and hopefully quieter, for the hard drives, plus I like a nice Blue LED fan in the front like my current case. Then Move the stock CM fan to the top with the other one). And used a Newegg Promo code for 20% off on case fans good till May 1st.

Figured I'd wait on 2 additional side fans see if I need them, if I do, plan on getting at least 1, maybe 2 Green LED Xigmatek's then (Green for Nvidia, Blue in front for Intel, No LED on top or rear or bottom)

A couple of $6 Yate Loon D12SL-12's would have been just as good. (I got some D12BL-12's off ebay for $5.66 shipped, it's the ball bearing version)

Pure performance, you could have gotten 2 of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835706032

Not sure if it will work

Quote:
**PROMO CODES ARE NON-TRANFERABLE and may only be redeemed using the Newegg account attached to this e-mail address.
As this was from my email I got from them.

But the code was: BTEKFHE24

BTEKFHE23 was for 15% off any CPU Cooler till the 1st of May as well (since its fans/cooler related).

but suppose its worth a try to see if they work.

yeah, they might of ran out of funds for it, there was a stipulation besides it running till May 1st (some items were only good for 48 or 72 hours, others till May 1st) but as long as Funds lasted for the offers.

its possible the Promo code is good, but they ran out of funds on the 20% for fans one so no longer works.

I even tried adding a couple more noctua's (different models), to my cart, and added the code, and got the same thing you did.

Yeah when I got that email, with that 20% off promo, its what motivated me to get around to inquiring and start this thread.

Seems the GT ap-15's and even ap-14's were considered the best aside from the Noctua's, but didn't realize how scarce they were or that it was related to the quake in Japan.

I watched some of those reviews for the fans, in the link above, and the Yate's seemed to have a lot louder sound that the GT's and some others tested. so that kind of turned me off a bit, I was hoping that Akasa would turn out good, but I looked up a review for it, I think it was on Bit Tech... wait, no it was Xbitlabs (always get those two mixed up) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...p-2.html#sect2

seems to think the S-Flows were only average despite their claims.

So figured just take up the 20% off promo with a pair of Noctua's, and get it over with.

in the end, not factoring in the 140mm Xigmatek, the 2 Noctua's came out just just under $40 anyways. about what I would of spent on a pair of GT's or the Akasa or couple others.

sorry to bring this back from the dead. found this looking for a second fan for my H60.

Shy, did you ever OC your i7? i've also got an i7 920 C0 and got it to 4.01ghz (HT off, EIST/C1 on). i've been running it for about 6 months without any problems. my H60 keeps it at 35-40C during normal use and under 60C gaming.

No problem reviving thread.

I was just on here looking for info on the fan screw sizes for the H60, so I can figure out how to add the 2nd fan.

As a matter of fact I just got the system put together mostly last night.

I got the last "needed" Parts 3 weeks ago, and finally started working on it, as I was installing the back plate for the H60, 1 of the 4 double ended standoffs was no thread on it... Took nearly 3 weeks for Corsair to finally send out some replacements, which I just got Wednesday afternoon. so the whole thing was on hold for that long.

I actually bought an i7 940 C0 stepping off one of the members here about a month or so ago. the i7 920 is going into a rig for my brother.

But having some issues with the H60 and i7 940 running at stock 2.93GHz running at 50-53C idle. have the 1st Noctue NF-P12 installed and connected.

Fan is plugged directly into the PSU connectors and not using any of the adapters to step down the RPM's on the fan.

Of course about a week or two ago I just found out FrozenCPU.com was selling the Scythe GT AP-15's again (Currently out of stock of AP-14 & AP-13's), was just on there and bought some new SATA cables.

$15.95 a piece for the AP-15's.

I already have the Noctua's so going to try those before having to try some new fans.

But the Hardware config has changed since this Thread was started.

Coolermaster 690 II Advanced Case

EVGA X58 SLI LE Mobo

6GB Corsair Vengeance (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz 1.5v

WD Black series 750GB 32MB Cache

WD Green Series 1.5TB

(damn was I happy I bought those months ago, I just saw HDD prices last night and found out the prices skyrocketed due to the flooding in Thailand supposedly... now a WD Black 500GB goes for $100+... even the 32MB Cache Blue Series are $100)

H60 cooler obviously.

EVGA Geforce GTX 560 Ti FPB (waiting to pick up a 2nd for SLI)

And of course the faster stock i7 940.

Currently I have to copy over data from my backed up drives on current system to the 1.5TB on the new drive (Built in SATA Dock on the case will make that much easier)

But any OCing is on hold until I can get those stock CPU temps down and the 2nd fan installed.

Pic I took last night after I finally got the cooler installed, just the CPU, Cooler, Mobo, RAM, one HDD and DVD drive, and 140mm Xiggy installed in the top.

Mobo Chipset if I was reading it right in the Bios was running 70+C...

so got some cooling issues to work out before any OCing really.

(Didn't have time to resize the image below)

If I can get the cooling issues dealt with, I should be able to get this thing to the 3.6GHz Target speed I'm looking for, as the previous owner had managed to get 3.8 or 3.9 out of it.

Was just using a 520W Antec Neo Eco to test the system and make sure it even boots. my Corsair 750TX will be going into this system in the end though. 520W Antec is going into my brothers system though.

Edit: Forgot, I also had to manually set the RAM at 1600Mhz, as it was set to run at 1066 instead in Bios, also the CPU upon boot up was set to a 21x Multiplier and 2.8GHz Speed, instead of 22x and 2.93GHz as it was supposed to.

So when I get a chance to will have to double check to see if maybe there is a BIOS update I'm missing or something, just in case.

but thought it was just odd that it was running at a full multiplier lower than it should of been. (And I had reset the CMOS before I even booted it up, just in case there was any prior settings saved, since the Board, like the GPU, were bought Recertified from EVGA)
