FC2 was, IMHO, a painfully boring, mindlessly repetitive, and truly annoying experience. Basically a giant, steaming pile of suck and fail.
If you wanna play a sandbox style game with a pathetically shallow storyline, where you spend tons time just traveling place to place, you should fire up Just Cause 2.
Even like the 5th time through JC2 would still be 5x more fun than the first time playing FC2.
It DOES, however, look really nice. It's worth playing for a few hours, just to check it out, esp. since it was free. Who knows, maybe you'll end up liking it. Some people obviously did.
The thing that annoyed me to no end about it is that there's these two factions in the game, and at any given time you're almost always on a mission for one faction or the other, right?
And both factions have their grunts out in the landscape, manning checkpoints and such ... and yet even when you're working on a mission for one of these factions, assigned to you by the faction's leader, ALL their grunts out in the field still hate and want to kill you.
EVERYBODY hates and wants to kill you in this game ... unless you're in one of the games towns. Then you're cool.
It's freaking annoying. And so is the seemingly infinite amount of driving you have to do. Esp. since everywhere you go, anyone that lays eyes on you just starts flinging lead w/o before you're even close enough for them to know who you are.
And don't even get me started on the stupid Malaria mechanic, or the totally half-baked 'friend' system they obviously tried to belatedly tack onto the game once they realized that their game had absolutely zero ability cause a player to feel anything like an 'emotion' in regards to it's banal proceedings ... other than frustration, of course.
Finishing that game was a chore ... one which I never did bring myself to fully accomplish. I think I'd rather get a root canal than try to play it again. At least that's over in an hour or so.
