Crossfiring 6850's worth it if they run at 16x/4x?

Thread Starter
My mobo in crossfire only gives 4x bandwidth to the second card. Is it still worth the price to buy 2 6850's as opposed to the other card I'm considering? (6950 2GB)

You will still get good performance through a x4 slot. Check out these articles they compare x4,x8,x16.

ATI cards exhibit more of a bandwidth bottleneck than NV cards.

I've tested 16/4x vs 8/8x and for the most part, no big deal.
There were occasional slowdowns, in the end though my 5870 cfx set up was giving 5850 cfx performance.

Here's the most recent review.

from looking at those chart seems like average performance lose is 10%-%5 depending on the game of crouse, still you get huge boost from crossfiring though

It's such a small performance loss that I personally think it's not worth the expense of a 16x/16x board for %5-%10 gains, if you already have a 16x/4x board you are happy with.
Eye of the beholder on that, as well as how much money you have to spend.

It's odd, the Legit Review comparison of P8P67 and P8P67 Deluxe crossfire barely showed any difference in performance, I wonder where the discrepancies come from..
