Default Xigmatek Coolers - With Pics (56k warning!)

Anyone heard of or used these before? We were approached by them, and they are sending us some review samples to test out. From the few reviews I have seen, they do quite well. We'll be testing an HDT-S963 and an XP-S964.

HDT-S963 - http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-hdts963.php

This uses direct touch heat pipes, supposedly offering better cooling performance. The HS isn't quite smooth on the bottom then, and this does result in some voids and large TIM buildup in spots, but apparently this is offset by the direct contact between the IHS/Heatpipes.

XP-S964 - http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-xp055.php

This one is similar to the first, but I don't think it has the direct touch system. It also supposedly works pretty well, but we'll see how they do. If they are good, we'll be sure to stock them.

EDIT: We got the HDT-S963 today, will be doing some testing soon. Here's some images of it in the meantime, compared to the Thermalright Ultra-120. This is the model with the direct contact heatpipes. It is smaller all around, but also has a fan included - so we'll see how it does.

Looks interesting, I'd like to see some testing and comparisons...

Possibly with Tuniq Tower, Thermaltake Ultra 120-EX, Scythe Infinity, and Zalmans 9700/9500 lineup.

Would definitely like to see a write-up on these, the direct heatpipe contact definitely will help transferring heat, so long as the heatsink itself is capable of dissipating all the heat generated

If you're looking for someone to field test it, I'd be willing install one on my rig for few days if you need a couple tests beds. I'm local to you, over in Wixom.

i don't like how the heatpipes come to the bottom of the base, those little air gapes will be murder i think. Lapping would he to be carefull because i don't think heatpipes are very think to begin with. may take away from the overall integrity of the devise

I want to see how the direct heatpipe one works out...

It sounds like a disaster, but if done right it could be sweet.
