Default Q6600 Pre-order Update(s)

Update 8/16

G0 Q6600's Now In Stock!

Update 8/13

Not only have those 100 G0's been allocated, but I got a message from our supplier stating all our G0's have been allocated. We will be shipping them in this week, and re-shipping as quickly as possible. It's expected we'll have all orders shipped out by Friday, finally!

Update 8/11

GOOD news, finally - I have 100 G0's at least on hold at one supplier, we'll have them in hand Wednesday, barring any other ridiculously terrible circumstances. He said he should be able to get me more too - so again, I'll try and get more than enough to satisfy orders. Will keep you guys posted! (this would mean we'd ship Wednesday, FWIW)

Announcement:

Every single one of the Q6600's we special ordered, and had shipped here today, were B3. Every - last - one - of - them

I cannot even begin to express how angry I am about this, and how disappointed I am for all of you. I know how badly you all want these, and I appreciate how patient you have been, and I am incredibly sorry this had to happen.

We will, of course, understand if you wish to cancel your order. Otherwise, I will continue trying to get more of these chips, as I do have a line on more that I should be able to have by Tuesday.

Please understand we will likely be INNUNDATED with e-mails and questions, so our response time will be slower than usual. I will be personally working all weekend to help answer any questions you may have.

Line Positions - Updated 08/06

Attached is a slightly edited database dump showing the current Q6600 pre-orders. It has a listing of order number, quantity ordered, and what "spot" in line you have - just reference by order number.

It's best viewed in Excel, but any text editor will work, albeit with skewed formatting.

Update E-mail 8/4

Quote:
ETA Update

We currently have at least 150 processors arriving this week, which will ship out to the first 150 paid pre-orders. At the moment, one of our other suppliers is also showing that our full order has been allocated there as well. If this is indeed the case, we will have all pre-orders shipped out by the end of this week. We will be working to confirm this Monday morning.

As usual, we recommend you check this thread for constant updates: http://www.overclock.net/pre-sales/2...-update-s.html The first post there will be kept up to date with all the latest information, so you don't need to read every post in the thread!

We also wanted to extend our deep gratitude to all of you for being so patient and understanding during the process. We know it's taken quite a while for some of you, and we sincerely appreciate the business. We'll be working extremely hard to ensure we fill all these orders as quickly as we can, so thanks for helping us make this process easier!

As usual, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

ETA Update - 8/2

Quote:
150 processors likely allocated from one of our supplier warehouses in California. Should be arriving at our location, and re-shipped by approximately 8/8 or 8/9. Information not 100% confirmed yet, but extremely likely.
Update E-mail 7/31

Quote:
When will the processor ship?

Unfortunately, it looks like we have a revised ETA from our suppliers now. We had hoped to ship on August 6th, but it appears the shipments from Intel to our suppliers are running slow. As of now, we're looking close to the 9th or 10th. Again, this is not definite, and can still move either direction. The ETA information provided by our suppliers is notoriously inaccurate and unreliable, but we are trying our best to get more concrete dates as quickly as possible.

What is TankGuys doing to secure these processors?

We currently have these processors on order from every single one of the major Intel distributors, so that we can take allocation from whomever gets them first. Furthermore, we have requests sent in directly to Intel, through 3 different channels, to help speed our allocation. We are in daily contact with representatives at all of those distribution centers, as well as with multiple Intel representatives. We are working every possible angle to help bring these processors in as quickly as possible.

Store XXX is shipping some G0's, why aren't you?

Because we are guaranteeing a specific stepping, that necessarily builds extra delays into our process. There are still some older B3 processors shipping from Intel, so we can't simply take the first allocation that comes our way. Other stores can order processors from any supplier, without any regard for stepping. Once they arrive, they can re-ship without having to check boxes and ensure a specific version. As such, it's much easier for them to resupply and reship. We, on the other hand, have to do everything we can to ensure we get the correct stepping, which adds a lot of extra work and time to the process. While we are doing everything possible to make this move along quickly, a very small part of the process remains under our control.

I need a G0 CPU now, where can I get it?

Currently, there is nowhere else you can purchase a guaranteed G0 CPU. Ordering from anywhere else will be luck of the draw, and you may well end up with a B3. That being said, there are reports that NCIX and possibly Newegg have shipped out some G0 processors. We understand completely if you wish to cancel with us and take your chances there. That being said, it's important to understand you are not guaranteed G0's from them, so you may end up with a B3.

As usual, please refer to the following forum for up to date information and questions:

http://www.overclock.net/pre-sales/2...-update-s.html

Again, thank you very much for your continued understanding and patience in the matter, we greatly appreciate it. We are working as hard as possible to get these shipped out to all of you as quickly as we can. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Update E-mail - Updated 07/24

Quote:
Good Evening Everyone!

Finally, some light at the end of the tunnel. There is strong indication that we will begin filling orders around August 6th. This is not yet set in stone, but preliminary reports from one of our major suppliers says that our order has been allocated, and will be filled the first couple days of next month. While this is not yet guaranteed, all signs look good so far.

With that in mind, it's time to start the process of collecting final payment for the pre-orders. Before we get into details on how to complete payment, there are a few important points first, to help preemptively answer any questions you might have.

1 - Your cards will NOT be billed until we have a definite ship date. However, once you complete the final payment process, the charge will likely show as a pending transaction until we actually bill you. It's important to understand that this is not an actual charge, so you are not accruing any interest on the purchase or anything yet - it's merely reserving the funds. Unfortunately this is how the banks work, and not something we have any control over.

2 - If you opt to cancel your order prior to shipment, you will still only be charged the $5 cancellation fee, meaning your entire final payment will be fully refunded.

3 - You may use either Google Checkout, or standard credit card to pay the remaining balance, regardless of payment method you used on the original pre-order. We greatly prefer if you use Google Checkout, and you can save $5 by doing so, just use coupon code "5google" during the Google Checkout process. Note: You must manually use the code, credits are not granted retroactively if you forget to do so!

4 - Your order MUST be fully paid before we can ship. If you have not paid once the processors arrive, you will be skipped until you complete payment.

5 - Make sure to follow the payment instructions completely, to ensure the fastest and most accurate processing of your order.

Thank you again for the great patience you have all been showing, it is greatly appreciated. As usual, if anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. Please understand, however, if we're slow to respond, as we're going to be extremely busy!

Final Payment Instructions: http://www.tankguys.biz/information.php?info_id=5

-The TankGuys Team
Quote:
What's the latest news on ship dates?

We still do not have an ETA quite yet. According to our latest info from Intel, the G0 Q6600's have started shipping, in limited quantities, from Intel late last week. They are expected to be very tight for a while, which means they will be fairly hard to come by at first. We're currently working every angle possible to secure these chips. It's a very difficult process for us to ensure we get the new chips, as most of the distributors and suppliers still have a lot of existing B3 inventory. We greatly appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work our best to get these as quickly as we can. As soon as we have any update on shipping dates, we'll be sure to let everyone know!

When will we have to send final payment?

Once we know the chips are en route to our warehouse, we'll be sending out an e-mail to everyone with instructions on how to complete payment. Please note: It's very important that you complete payment as quickly as possible once you get that message, to ensure the fastest possible shipping. We will not be accepting payment until we have sent a formal request to everyone, however.

Has the final price been determined?

At this time, it looks like the price will fall somewhere between $295 and $299. We should have a clear idea on Monday or Tuesday.

What is my spot in line?

Please refer to the following forum post: http://www.overclock.net/pre-sales/2...-update-s.html

In the first post, there is an attached text file with a complete listing of order numbers, processors ordered, and your spot in line. This post is updated as often as possible, but there may be a day or two lag at times. Please understand we cannot answer e-mail requests for line position due to the high volume of requests - you must check this list, and if your order isn't listed yet, please check back later.

How is shipping order determined?

Shipping order is determined using a combination of your pre-order position, and final payment. Assuming you have completed payment by the time the processors arrive in our warehouse, your chip will be shipped based on when you placed your original pre-order. If, however, you haven't completed payment when the chips arrive, you will be skipped until you do complete payment. Once you have paid, you'll then be granted priority on the next round of shipping. To help illustrate this system better, and avoid any mis-understandings, here are a few example scenarios:

1 - Assume we get 50 processors in our first shipment, and you are pre-order spot 45. If you've completed payment prior to the chips arriving in our warehouse, you would be granted chip #45.

2 - Assume we get 50 processors in the first shipment, and you're pre-order spot 45. If you have not completed payment prior to the chips arrival in our warehouse, you would be skipped, and your chip would be granted to the person in spot #51 if they have paid. You would then be first in line for the next batch of processors, assuming you have completed payment by that time.

3 - Assume we get 50 processors in the first shipment, and you're pre-order spot 53. If you have completed payment by that time, but customers 1-52 have also, you will not get a processor from this batch. If, however, at least 3 people in spots 1-52 have not paid by this point, you would be granted on of those chips.

The important thing to understand out of all of this is that you will really want to provide your final payment as soon as possible, once we request it. Note: Until we send out a formal request, we are *NOT* accepting early payment. We have no intention of tying up anyone's money until we have an actual ship date.

Will my order fall under your first shipment?

At this time, there's no way for us to know how many processors we will receive in any future shipments. The best we can say is that we will be working as hard as we can to ensure we get chips as quickly as possible!

Can I pay more to get my processor any faster?

The only thing you can do is opt to pay for faster shipping. However, we will absolutely not accept payment in return for an earlier spot in line. Your shipping position will be purely based upon the system listed above.

If I get tired of waiting for G0's, can I opt to just take a B3 instead?

Absolutely, just shoot us an e-mail and make a request to do so, we'll take it from there.

What if I wish to cancel my order?

That's no problem - simply e-mail in a request to do so. You will be granted a full refund of your shipping costs. The $5 pre-order fee is, however, non refundable.

If any of you have any other questions, feel free to let us know. Please understand, however, that we're running at full capacity right now, so our response may be a bit slower than usual. Thanks again for everyone's patience and support!!

Update E-mail - Updated 07/16

We just sent out this e-mail to all Q6600 pre-order customers. I've noticed a few bounce back messages though. So, in case you didn't get the message, here it is:

Quote:
Q6600 Update

We have reopened after our annual week long closure, and first wanted to thank everyone for being very patient during that time. We greatly appreciate it! We are now mostly caught up on the backlog, and all orders place during that week should have been processed by now.

At this time, we still do not have a firm shipping date for these processors. Information varies wildly right now as to when the G0 stepping Q6600 chips will start shipping from Intel. Different sources have the possible ship dates ranging anywhere from July 22nd to early September, so it's not yet clear exactly when it will be. Of course, we will continue to work every angle possible to try and secure these as soon as we can. It is expected that other stores will be shipping Q6600's at the lower price point on/around the 22nd, but will still be shipping mostly, if not all, B3 steppings. Thus, we appreciate your further patience while we work hard to make sure we get only G0's. We will not be shipping at all until we can be absolutely certain they will be G0s.

We will be updating you all as we get any new information, so you will most definitely know when any new developments happen. If any of you have any questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

Yes, if it takes that long, you can adjust shipping addresses.

I hope it doesn't take that long either - it's still up in the air though.

I hope it does not take that long either, but at least I am guaranteed a G0 Quad. That alone makes the wait worth it.
