Default Sorry if I am putting the Tankguys on the spot

I'm in the market to but an Opteron 165, I noticed that your (Tankguys) 165 is $20 more than a competitive site. Is the reason because of the stepping you sell? I'm not trying to be a butthead, but I never purchased from you and I'd like to know the pluses of buying from you.

Yeah I think the extra money is to cover the admin costs it takes them to give you the choice of stepping that you want.

I think it's worth it knowing that you get what you want rather than buying it from say, Newegg, and hoping luck is on your side

For only $20 bucks I'd say it would be worth the guarentee to get the one you want and not a bad one.

And believe it or not, I ordered my E6600 from them just a couple hours ago, and now it's already at FedEx.

Best thing it was only $3 more than Newegg price.

Thanks guys. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to make a educated consumer choice.

You should be able to pick your stepping and their customer service is insane. It's worth it.

Insane? I don't think anything describes their customer service

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

lol yeah they are great with customer service, they usually are going to be a little more price wise also because of the fact that they dont have the inventory and thus spend more on the product then say newegg does

atleast on the stuff that they carry in stock,

ive bought a few cpu's thru them and like getting what i can as long as its not too much more then like newegg

The main reason is that unfortunately, our costs seem to be higher than other sites. That, or they don't make any profit on them at all.

You'll actually find ~90% of our stuff is likely more expensive than buying elsewhere, and obviously I have no trouble admitting as much. This is a cut-throat business Shoot, often times our competitors sell stuff for cheaper than I can even buy it for!

In the case of the Opty, actually I don't charge more for stepping selection - it's just a function of how much the chips cost me in the first place
