Default Group Buy?

Would TankGuys ever be willing to do "group buys"?

Say you get a bunch of people together that want to buy something rare like a notebook GPU or something, would tankguys ever be willing to collect the $$ and then get the good and deliver?

Just an idea.

Nothing at the moment. I just thought it would be a cool idea to do.

A "group buy" isn't as helpful as you'd think. Margins are so slim on this stuff anyway, that it'd make almost no difference. We buy everything in bulk regardless, so unfortunately, it'd not help.

The only way it *would* help is if someone else coordinated the buy, and took charge of all the reshipping/packaging/billing etc. They then place a big order for 50+ of something from us, then we ship one big box with all those parts, then they took the responsibility of reshipping to everyone else... but that's a huge headache, trust me

Well for the group buy item, I was referring to something that you normally don't find on the market. A lot of laptop internals are popular for these things.

Say 50 people want to upgrade their laptops to a 8800M GT. You collect the money from 50 people, buy the video cards, and distribute? Or is that too much of a hassle to deal with?

Seems to me like the hassle would cost you a lot more (headaches, having trouble sleeping because you don't know where your video card is, etc.) than the money you save from a group order.

Its not about saving money! Its about getting a part that you otherwise would not be able to purchase (individually).

I like group buys but not for parts.

Possibly for custom made parts which would be ridiculous expensive to produce singularly because of the setup time of something like a CNC?

It would be nice to be able to get some otherwise impossible to get parts.

I for one would love to be able to grab an MXM Type II -compatible 9600GT GPU when it is released. I know that OEM's hate selling laptop GPU's individually.
