Wow.. Another new socket? What is up with that. I thought I5 would atleast stay with the same socket. Wonder why they are doing that, cause all that stuff seems just as expensive as i7 hardware and cpu's.

I'm getting tired of saying this... Lynnfield was created as a cheaper alternative to Bloomfield with very minor performance losses. The different socket is necessary for most of these changes, mainly QPI-DMI, Tri-Channel IMC - Dual-Channel IMC, and the IGP (clarksdale) + integrated PCIe controller.

I don't think VID is printed on the boxes anymore, but I can check. If it's not on the box, I can't open them to check, so I wouldn't be able to do it.
