One Size Fits All ...

Posted

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing, Very Spacious, Well Padded for protection

Cons: None

I own a pair of Denon D2000 headphones and, oddly enough, for the price you pay, these cans do not come with a protection case. I looked around and stumbled on the Hippocase. What piqued my interest was the fact that it was not extremely large and square like the usual army cases you find for headphones. Please find below my review of this product. INTRODUCTION Dimensions (cm) : 26(L) x 26(W) x 11(H) If you look at the dimensions, you do not realise that it has an impressive size. Do not get me wrong, it is still smaller than the briefcase style cases but I was surprised. The case comes in a very interesting black finish with a hand strap. I like it a lot because it fits in my...

Photoshop's Best Friend

Posted

Pros: Perfect precision (no mouse can come close), Improves and accelerates your workflow, highly customisable

Cons: The stock pens that come with it do not last very long

I bought this tablet to improve my Photography post-processing. I do a lot of Capture NX and Photoshop CS5.5. The mouse I had could not give me the precision I wanted, especially for portrait retouching. Consequently, I needed something better. I looked at tablets and I chose the Intuos because it was praised everywhere. I was not disappointed. This tablet has given me the possibility to do subtle modifications without any sweat on my part. In addition, WACOM provides a rather interesting software that allows you to configure the buttons and make this act like a mouse if need be. It took me a while to learn how to use it and I will be honest with you : the L is BIG! You cannot comprehend...

Perfect PowerPoint Companion

Posted

Pros: Light, easy to use, great range

Cons: None

For my PhD Degree I need to make many presentations, give lectures, and attend conferences. This tool has become my best friend as I don't have to constantly refer to my laptop to switch slides. The range is amazing and the two batteries I have last quite long. How does it work? Fairly easy: 1. Plug in the USB receiver which is elegantly hidden in the remote. 2. Let the remote do the rest. 100 % Compatible with PowerPoint and allows you to play slideshows, darken the screen, go back, forward and underline text on your slides by using the laser pointer. I highly recommend this due to the comfort it provides when presenting in front of an audience. My rating : 5/5!!!

The Spec Sheet is not ... Everything

Pros: Amazing SNR, low distortions, comfy switch between speakers and headphone, perfect for skype

Cons: Not very good in gaming, Not very good for films, EAX emulation is poor, No THX

In my view, the STX is a bit overrated because every review you read out there makes it perfect. This was not my experience and I learned it the hard way. I purchased this card after seeing it recommended everywhere. The reviews were stellar and I pulled the trigger. The card arrived and I was impressed by the build quality. Asus did a nice job. First thing I noticed is that this thing is huge. I had to re-arrange all my components because the Rampage II Extreme has a very tall heatsink which blocks the STX if you try to use the first PCI-EX. I installed the card and the control centre is very straight forward to use. All the necessary options are in front of you. I have to give this a...

One of the best X-Fi cards out there

Posted

Pros: Top notch for gaming, Foobar & Wasapi with FLACS sound amazing, plenty of features including THX

Cons: Drivers can be a pain sometimes

I bought this to replace a Creative Platinum EX because Creative dropped support on all non x-fi cards. I was not disappointed. This card has amazing sound and provides the best possible gaming experience one can have. I enjoy watching films with it and listening to music is a pleasure. The card has good ASIO capabilities and when I use ASIO in MixMeister I can truly take things to the next level. I have had no hardware issues with it and all the jacks work fine. The only let down of this card is it's drivers. Creative has a tendency of writing very poor drivers. Don't get me wrong, once they work, the card is very enjoyable but when you start having issues like certain effects will not...

Stellar Image Quality

Pros: Amazing colours, perfect for photo editing, the wide gamut really sets it apart

Cons: Not good for gaming as trailing may appear

One of my sig rigs is being used as a Photo Editing machine and , consequently, I needed to purchase a very good screen. I bought this Dell due to its good reputation in the photography world. I am not sorry as I was lucky enough to get a complete uniform panel. When you first turn it on, you can see the poor Dell Factory calibration. Colours are horribly set and the first thing I did is to calibrate the monitor with my Spyder 3 Elite tool. This nifty tool measures everything, from colour temperature to luminance and brightness uniformity in each quadrant of the panel. As soon as I finished my calibration to a 2.2 gamma and 6500 Kelvin, I saw amazing detail and depth. The screen is...

Pros: Perfect for people with tall RAM, Full Load makes it shine

Cons: The retention system can wreak havoc on low quality sockets

I purchased this product at launch to replace a Noctua. I paid quite the sum on it as it just showed up in the shops. I am using it in a push-pull Zalman ZF3 combo and it does an amazing job too cool my I7 920 cpus. I like that it is very slim and my Trident RAM has no issue fitting at all. Compared to my old Noctua I gained 12 degrees at full load. It holds my cpus at bay between 3.8 GHz and 4.2 GHz with HT on. The C0 which is the lower clocked, requires significantly more voltage than its counterpart and in P95 I hit 60-70 Celsius depending on the ambient. Bear in mind that to stabilize the C0 at 3.8 GHz I sometimes need to use 1.37 V which is quite high. In any case, I highly...

Small ... but Tough

Posted

Pros: Extremely lightweight, very powerful for its size and battery, good audio quality,

Cons: Long Charging time, Cheap Plastic especially when you take the battery out, slight hiss on volume change

Hello there and Welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I bought a brand new FiiO E11 off Ebay at a very good price. I am constantly on the move so I decided to purchase an item that would provide flexibility and ease of use. The FiiO E11 was what I needed and it works seamlessly with my iPhone 4 and Nokia N8. The pair of cans I use, the Denon D2000, are relatively easy to drive, only 25ohms, however, an amp like the FiiO E11 really makes them shine, especially in the low range. With this amp, they are a totally different animal and very enjoyable. Package Contents. In a relatively small and shiny box, you receive the following : 1. FiiO E11 2. User's Manual. Rather...

My Experience with the Denon AHD2000

Posted

Pros: Amazing bass, very comfortable, easy to drive even with your iPhone, best overall package

Cons: None so far.

Hello there and Welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I own a few pairs of cans and among these, the HD650 and a backup Klipsch. As I have left my HD650 home, I got fed up with my spare Klipsch cans, so went out shopping. As I already own the Senn's I was looking for something different. I had the opportunity to test AKG, Bose, Sennheisser, Denon, Beyerdynamic, Beats Pro and a few others. After 1 hour of testing I made my choice for my budget and I chose the AH-D2000. I could have bought the Beats Pro (50 quid extra) but they were bass poor compared to the Denon. Sadly, I cannot make use of my Xonar STX / Titanium HD as I do not have them with me but I will most...
