Couldn't believe the performance 'till I saw it.!

Pros: Bought it for $50 from Geeks, DX 11, Installation was a snap

Cons: 128 bit memory bus, DDR3 Memory

I found this for $50 bucks on geeks.com when shopping around for a cheap card for my second youngest son's gaming rig. I originally was going to get another Powercolor HD 6570 1gb gddr5 as my 2 other sons' rigs game great on their 24 inch screens with medium to high settings but took a chance on my first xfx purchase for this baby. I was a bit nervous as the ddr3 memory as well as the overall cheap looking cooler and cover design. I also wasn't sure if it was a stripped-down or underclocked 6770 or an overworked 6670/6570 chip..?? He runs a Q6600 cpu in a decent Gigabyte G41 mobo along with a pair of 2gb sticks of "chrome" mushkin ddr 2 800 ram. (both of which were given to me as a gift...

What a nice little surprise!

Pros: Works, straight outta the box, easy set-up, nice layout, easy to understand instructions.

Cons: (I knew all of these beforehand)) just small and few features.

This board really surprised me, as It was a temporary replacement for my Z77 Fatality Professional. For 45 bucks, it really runs great. There's not a lot of slots, nor is there usb3 or sata 6gps, but what there is, is reliability. She started right up, as I followed the instructions and updated the bios to enable my I53570K ivy bridge cpu to run on it, and it did! Stuck the mobo right in the spot where the fatality was, hooked it to the video card and the h2o cooling loop and off she went!! No problems, no fuss, no muss...lol Great budget minded board, not to mention thatr with the 15 dollar rebate, I only paid 30 dollars for it!

Can't find a flaw!!

Pros: Antec quality, no stress on motherboard, cooler temps, easy installation

Cons: The dang plastic backplate (why don't they reinforce these)

Well, after looking for a flaw, I have given up and just am completely impressed with it. I was against water cooling of any type for a long time and finally started to look into them. This one to me is for sure one of the best. I didn't want a 240 rad cluttering up my system and this double thick 120 was perfect for me. I only had one place in mind to mount this and that is right under my dvd burner because it is well out of the way and gives my front fan (lepa casino 1c) good show-through the front of the case to match the preinstalled 140mm fan. This unit is also very short so it doesn't clutter up my cpu area at all and the flexible lines are much nicer than the corsair and some...

Great Value!

Pros: Price ($99 on sale @ NCIX) , eyefinity, runs all games on med to high settings

Cons: Mounting bracket didnt match up exactly to screw hole

I had to bend the mounting bracket for the screws to fit, and I didn't want the pci-e to come out any so that did worry me but seems fine. My Sapphire fit perfectly, so I'm probably going to add a spacer or washer behind the bracket so It doesn't have to stay bent. This gpu runs great though, and for 99 bucks, who could complain? This will go into my kids' gamer as soon as I can afford two Sapphire 7770's though lol.

Antec's high current gamer 400 is a gem!

Pros: More power than they actually list. Well Built. Plenty of plugs

Cons: Nope

This power supply blew me away for 29 bucks after rebate! I was building a budget gaming tower with all quality branded parts for as little as possible. This power supply actually maxes out at about 460-480 watts! It runs 7 fans- 6 led 1-reg. It also runs my msi 990fxa-gd80 with a phenom 2 965,4 gig 1866 vengeance memory,a Powercolor 6850, and 2 mechanical hard drives with one dvd burner! The stream of power is endless.... Comes with one gpu connector so when I stuck my 6870 in it to test its ability to x-fire, I used an adapter and it still kept pumping out the juice! I overpaid for my last p.s. frfom o.c.z. -- a 550 watt -- and it wouldn't keep up with less. I'm a lifetime H.C.G. fan...

AMD Phenom II 965 Deneb quad core processor

Posted

Pros: 100 bucks, quad core, overclocks easily, very reliable

Cons: Runs somewhat warm over 4 gig's

I bought this for my third build this year after having an 1100t 6-core, and an FX-8120 previously. The 1100t was sweet but the fx was a dud, to say the least. This processor outperforms them both in every test and application that I have thrown at it! I cool it with the stock cooler that came with the FX (it's beefier than the one that came with this one) and I'm running 4.2 gig without overheating it. When I swapped the cooler from my fx, a Zalman 9900 max, I could get 4.45 gig and still not hit 76 celcius... wow! My video editing encodes and burns movies in 14 to 23 minutes depending on the size of the file. I really regret not sticking with the phenom on ALL of my builds but we live...

MSI 990FX GD-80 Motherboard Review

Posted

Pros: High quality VRM, good board layout and losless audio.

Cons: Could use more fan connections. Wish I would've known how great it was sooner.

This motherboard has exceeded my expectations at almost every turn, especially with all of the garble about recent MSI board problems that I have read about. Beautiful black and blue color scheme is well thought out, as is the slot layout. The pci-e slots are spaced well as to not deem the x1 and legacy pci slots unusable. With the two x16 slots seperated correctly as well, it is very feasable to crossfire or SLI without killing the extra slots. The upgraded audio puts this board ahead of most onboard and the audio utilities take full advantage of it. Included accessories give case owners without USB 3 the chance to install it in their case and the six included sata cables are high...

Zalman 9900 MAX red L.E.D. cooler review

Pros: Solid copper that's nickel coated. It is manufactured solid.Easy assembly. great cpu temps.

Cons: Very LARGE! Somewhat heavy. Expensive, almost costs what H2O does.

I was very surprised when I unboxed this giant! My last build with the phenom 2 1100t used a Cooler Master n520 and this is bigger still. Manufactured with top-quality materials and very solid. Cools my CPU as well as I'll ever need it to! I surely would've used this baby before had I known how well it performed. Although it does cost a pretty penny, I believe that you get what you pay for, and skimping when it comes to cooling your CPU isn't the area to go cheap. One thing they need to improve is the thermal paste. It's very hard to spread and caused me problems until I re-applied new paste (arctic silver) and it hasn't skipped a beat since. They need to just not include it or include...

Awesome monster!

Posted

Pros: Room to grow, and eventually upgrade to or add ANYTHING that I'll ever want or need. The built-in fan connections make it easy, just plug them in-right

Cons: Almost broke my back lifting it out of the box. Hard to find anyone with one to chat with.... if thats a con?

I absolutely LOVE this case! I built my last system with a storm scout and that was fine but tight in some areas. This monster makes my Asrock Fatality 990fx standard ATX mobo look like a micro! Plenty of space for everything. I added the second 200mm fan on top,a 120 mm behind the mobo, and 2 120's on the bottom for intake and 2 more 120's left side for GPU intake and cooling and I still have room for 8 more! There's even screw holes to mount 2-140's behind the hard drive rack! I'm still debating whether or not to ass another power supply on top and put my water cooling radiator in front of it, just to make the case look less empty... Easily room for crossfire 3 way or whatever else u...

Seamless overclocking and operation!

Posted

Pros: O.C. Tweaker,UEFI B.I.O.S. , "Fatality" mouse port, Dual LAN with "teaming" function, x-fast USB, and Lots of clean power.

Cons: It wasn't free? seriously, I haven't found any yet except they need to start including a crossfire bridge with the SLI bridge.

This motherboard has been as great as all of the reviews said it was. I have been easily overclocking and changing settings in the BIOS. It comes with many "x-fast" features including RAM,LAN,USB, and with 2 Seperate LAN connections, I have unlimited game playing on the web without any lagging. I can surf and download at the same time as well with no waiting. It came with 6 sata cables, a 2-port USB tray with cables for installation in the front floppy slot, or swap it to the included rear slot bracket if there isn't a front slot available. I am very happy with this product, especially after downloading the 1.5 BIOS.
