Super cooling at low RPMs

Posted

Pros: Everything

Cons: None

These SP120's are not only quiet, at full load, but also push quite a significant amount of air. They keep my Antec 920 liquid cooler's radiator happy, even though the MAX RPM of these is only 1500RPM vs the stock antec fans that go up to 2500-2600RPM I found the temps on my CPU to be exactly the same as my Antec's one, at full load (this includes gaming on Battlefield 3 & running Prime 95). Long story short: The SP120 quiet editions cool the same amount as the antec do - however the major difference is: -Antec's are significantly louder at full load -Antec's go to 2500-2600RPM, whilst this "only" goes to 1500RPM, and yet provides the same amount of cooling to the CPU So if you're...

Good Processor - a little pain to OC

Posted

Pros: Fast, energy efficient

Cons: Heat, voltage increases, lack of QC by intel

The Ivy Bridge technology in this processor is great, however I found that when OC'ing it was extremely sensitive, and by that I mean, with 0.01v added to Vcore, temps went up experientially (this was at 1.25v @ 4.2ghz) Got the CPU stable running at @ 4.5ghz - but it took a long time getting there, not as simple (especially by monitoring temps) as my old processor to say the least. Other than that a solid performance throughout. I should note something: When I got the processor, the fan it came with didn't work (the motor was broken) - not like it mattered much to me, but it is something to note, and really shows that for a £250 product, QC should be on Intel's mind - as it didn't...

Amazing air flow!

Posted

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

These babies are amazing! They provide high air flow in/out of your case, and still remain super silent whilst doing so. I run mine between 700-1000 RPM, and I can't even hear them, unless I put my ear right next to it. In the package you'll receive: -Fan -3 rings (red, blue and white) -Four Black screws -A 12v-7V step down reducer Overall, these fans are definitely worth it, and much better than my Fractal Fans that came with my Define R4. Here's my unboxing and overview of them:

A nice case

Posted

Pros: Look, air flow, removable HDD rack, silent

Cons: on/off button is sensitive, design aspects

A very nice case, that's silent, but also very elegant. I love the case, ever since I first got it - even though I had to return my first one to OCUK due to a manufacturing defect on it. OCUK were very good in dealing with the problem, for free Pros: -The USB ports at the top make it easy to plug and play things -The case look is very stylish -There's good air flow within the case -The material it is made out of is of good quality -The fan control at the front is useful -The fan filters that are included at the bottom and front are useful -The removable HDD rack is very useful -The 2x Fractal fans included are good (although not the best) -The case is silent Cons: -On/Off button can...

Runs BF3 on Ultra and is super silent

Posted

Pros: Quiet, runs games perfectly, looks cool

Cons: Low memory bus width

This card is brilliant. Bought it for my new rig, in order to play the latest games on max graphics. It runs BF3 on ultra without any problems, but best of all - it is so quiet I can't even hear it. I have only heard it when I turned up the fan speed to 100%, and even then, it's still quiet - incredible. I haven't OC'ed it yet, as I haven't needed to, but I'm sure I will in the future, just for fun ! This card also is super elegant and looks lovely in my Asus Z77 Sabertooth. Finally, the software worked like a breeze, and I got the latest things off the website. Afterburner is a great OC'ing tool. Overall, if you are looking for a good card - this one is it. Here's an unboxing of...

Lovely card - Used for over 2 years

Posted

Pros: Sound quality, hardware

Cons: None

Had this card for over 2 years now. Works brilliantly, and does what it says on the tin. I feel that this card did everything I needed it to do, and the step-up over on-board sound was quite something! I would highly suggest getting this card, over on-board sound. It's hard to find flaws or things that are wrong with this card in all honesty. It is a must buy if you ask me.

Excellent Hardware - TERRIBLE software

Posted

Pros: Hardware

Cons: Software

I had owned previously the D1 (PCI variant) of the DX for over 2 years, and it ran without any faults. Got the DX in, and it was easy to install, and put in the front panel audio plug. The PCI-E DX needs power though, which it comes with an included adapter. Problem is, that the plug doesn't feel securely in place. Apart from that, the hardware was great, it gave good sound quality, and EQ functionalities for my rig, just like the D1 did. However, getting there was a real pain. The software included with the DX and even the online drivers/software on ASUS's official site were shockingly bad. I had no sound, nothing working on the Xonar utility, and often a grey screen in the utility...
