Tried the game, and it's... horrible to say the least. I had high hopes for it cause it "looks" like it would be fun. Shame.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Red Orchestra is the most morbidly disgusting excuse for a WW2 FPS I've ever seen

Yeah its kinda hard a first, but fight trough it and you will get the hang of it, it gets a lot of fun afterwards.

I taught I'd post this up because it does an excelent job at summing RO up, exactly how I feel.
Quote:
You may not like Red Orchestra at all. You may find the vagaries of weapon accuracy to be aggravating. You may think the graphics aren't all that hot. You also might find the vehicles to perform more sluggishly than you'd like. But if you find BF2 to be too gamey or Call of Duty to be too melodramatic; if you just want to get in and fight in what feels like a real, battered, and bleak warzone with authentic weapon behavior, then RO might be for you. It's only $25, while BF2 still retails at twice the price. There's no stat tracking, but I personally prefer a focus on the game over individual accomplishments. Your tastes may differ -- but I recommend giving RO a try. Don't be surprised if it doesn't immediately appeal to you -- it didn't win me over right away either. Perhaps the fun is in the subtleties, or in the balance between infantry and vehicles. In BF2, you're simply at a huge disadvantage if you're on foot (unless you're playing on one of the infantry-oriented expansion maps), whereas in RO there just aren't a lot of guys driving around looking for people to run over. I think I'll continue to play RO and explore its nuances.

This isnt a run&gun cod day of defeat instant kill sniper mad jumping skills bf crazy headshots cs kinda game. This is a fun, drawn back game where you take your time with a cold beer and play it for what it is: the most authentic feel any game brought to the ww2 genre, so yeah if you feel that it sucks you ain't looking for the right things.. move on.

I own the game and its really not bad. I don't get why people flame it so much. Its not like other games sure, so you might not like its ultra realistic gameplay

How is it different from the UT2004 mod other than it costs money and in not cross-platform?

Whenever I see the term "ultra-realistic", I usually giggle.

I agree. It was hard to get used to. But, it is a great game. Just give it time till you get comfortable with the gameplay. It gets really fun. Trust me.
