Well in the final release, its only about 10-15 Feet! I hope a patch can fix this!
Can you imagine what the RRoD failure rate would be with a 10 mile draw distance?

After reading the above link I'm really kind of pissed. I just got a replacment unit back from microsoft and it dose not have the HDMI port on it. Dose this mean that I got a system back that will eventully fail as well?
Not necessarily.......
Quote:
Microsoft did re-manufactured the motherboard so it wouldn’t warp under prolonged heat and also fixed the solders to make sure that they didn’t cause the hair-line fracture. They also improved the “heat sink” of the 360 to make sure the GPU and the CPU both had more attention paid on them to keep them cool. These “revamped” systems can be identified simply by looking for the HDMI port located underneath the standard AV output jack on the back of the system. You can also look on the box to see if it says Zephyr on it which is the code name they used when re-manufacturing the motherboard.
EDIT: I'm not sure if its supposed to be on the "case" or the box that the 360 came in....

LOL.

What does a game require to run?. wait wait a "Computer Processing Unit" and "Graphics Processing Unit". What happens when you give CPU/GPU bunch of commands? wait wait, Raises up the heat because it's under full load. Maybe other games didn't use the XBox360 to it's full speed. Maybe halo 3 was so bad for the Xbox360 that it has to reload part of the game because a code was wrong here or there?

The rrod happens to an Xbox 360 system when one or more system components permanently fail. A lot of people, especially those not computer savvy, have jumped to conclusions that the reason for the rrod is overheating but that is not the case with the rrod because if it were overheating, letting it cool off would be good enough until it overheated again (not to mention the Xbox 360 has a seperate indication for overheating which would be 2 blinking red lights in the 1 and 3 quadrants rather than three lights in the 1, 2, and 3 quadrants).

The real reason for the 3 red lights of failure is a result of long term heat of the CPU and the GPU against the motherboard that caused it to “bow” or “warp”. This warping issue causes the lead-free solders that were used to mount the motherboard to have lots of tension on them. After it too having long exposure to elevated temperatures, the solders become brittle and develop hair-line cracks that are almost irreparable. It isn’t until the hair-line cracks form that you get the red ring of death. So is the system having heat issues where the parts are failing due to heat? No. The system is actually failing because of irregular behavior in the motherboard that was mounted.

Now this is not a fanboy comment as I do not own a PS3 or anything...However it seems XBOX360 is looking to be more of a fail in my mind than a success. The amount of hardware faults it keeps getting its going to overtake the issues PS2 had.

I am afraid you can only blame Halo 3 to a certain extent. The fact is that if microsofts console cant deal with a game made for it then that clearly shows that once again the Xbox360 is of a bad design somewhere along the line.

I am very glad that I never bought an XBOX360 as it seems I would have no end of issues with it most likely,

well I own an xbox360, and never had any problems with it, playing halo 3 or anything else.

The only thing I felt was necessary to change, was the controller, always play with a mouse and keyboard.
