I have the 360 with HDdvd, ps3 and a wii. I have them all running on a 42" westy 1080p, as is my PC. If my 360 goes down I have a lot of other stuff to keep me occupied but it still pisses me off that I have to deal with it. I wish they would send out fixed units. I got a replacement but it is just one that has not failed yet it is not a newer version that will not ever have an issue. Oh well I guess I keep sending them back.

Dose anyone know if the new elite system with HDMI port is not suffering from this issue I may just bite the bullet and buy one and then move this one into the bed room and run it on my 37" 1080i. If I have 2 systems can I play co-op from to different rooms each player with there own monitor?

They fixed the design flaw with the Elite and the HDMI Premium. Both have a new motherboard that wont warp and have extra cooling as well.

So is it just the reg 360's that are having problems? My elite gets the E 74 error like once a week. which causes me to turn it off, remove the HDD, and restart it. *** microsoft.....***

Any console made after about 6/2007, whether it be Elite or Premium, should be "fixed." I believe the first round of elites might have the fatal design flaw...But i don't know for sure.

the game stresses the 360 to its limits, and playing it for extended periods like most of these halo 3 fanatics are, will lead to problems. Don't blame the game 'cause its popular and has good graphics, blame Microsoft for making an inferior platform to do so on.

Is it true that the Cooling system on the 360 works better if it's laying flat or does it make a difference whether or not it's standing up?
Look at vent placement and you'll see. Also remember NOT to put ANY gaming console on carpet, except the PS3 it survived a few days in a sauna it can survive a carpet.

All you folks trying to hint in any way that this is user error by:

- saying they should take a break
- upgrade the cooling
- open up the box to clean it

Should understand the nature of what a console is. It SHOULD be maintenance free and should be hassle free. The vast majority of people don't want to open up their electronic devices because it will void a warranty. I've heard of people having their xbox warranty voided by messing with the stock cooling and the average ADULT person doesn't have $300 - $400 to throw around.

QFT.......wow I'm reallly tired of Microsoft bashing.
I tend to believe the the problem may lay in the area of the end user.....I've seen some abused gaming consoles in my day. I'm willing to bet that these consoles are sitting in direct sunlight or near heavy smoking.

You know what the XBox 360 needs? Watercooling! (?)
