I've found that usually the intertubes can generally agree on what just plain sucks and all the differing review sites and reviewers hate the same games. But on the good ones the range of good scores is very telling about how subjective an individuals tastes can be.

I have played it for two to three hours total now, and I can tell you one thing.

IT DOES NOT SUCK!

I have really enjoyed it so far. Took out my first major target. The game is just fast paced and fun. The AI is also pretty good so far. I was surprised that the Templar could get to me at some of the places I was hiding.

Good stuff, recommended.

Edit: Now that I have played it even more, I can tell you, without a doubt, the game is freaking awesome. The only problem I have had is that it has frozen twice...but both times it froze, it was right after a 'save point'...so all was well.

The combat is a lot of fun...if you buttonsmash you WILL die, without a doubt. You must rely on counters and assassinations to keep you alive. I haven't done too well keeping myself from killing people though. Whenever I kill a guard or a target, I always end up leaving a trail of blood behind me.

This will be the first single player game in a LONG time that I will want (note...'want' is the main word here) to play multiple times.

If you read the IGN review, he has a lot of good things to say, but he just seems to not enjoy stealth games much...imo, this game is a solid 9.5/10, but again, thats just my opinion. I think after I am done, I will just post my own extensive review.

The games that I've bought that are usually rated lower than an eight on IGN have for the most part sucked. Maybe this will be the exception. I consider anything below an 8 on any site a title not worth my money, especially for $60, but to each his own. Look at Battlestations: Midway, it was abysmal. IGN does have it's occassional reviews that I don't agree with ie. Bioshock; that game was boring. And by the way, why are you guys posting reviews from other sites on this thread? The title cleary says IGN and not Gamespot, Gamespy, etc.

I have played Assassin's Creed last night and she it does get a bit tiresome when your constantly in story mode but i have to say the graphics are unbelievable and the story line isn't "boring" i mean you get to kill ppl and the features such as running through crowds makes it realistic since you'll fall and trip... all in all i can't wait to play some more

I bought Assassin's Creed Collector's Edition for my friend for his birthday (was on the 9th) and he loves it =). He said he particularly enjoys the swordplay in the game. (he is a fencer IRL)

This game looks tons better than Oblivion for the PS3. It's a fun game and a must have.

The controls are smooth and responsive. Really make the game fun and not overly complicated like some games make it out to be. You can run around building tops and climb without breaking a sweat, though it still is hard enough that during chases you can get caught if you mess around. Fighting is somewhat shallow since all you really need to do is counter their attacks and usually that means a one hit kill. So i suggest making it fun and attempting to sneak up on guards instead of running in head first. The only complaints that pop up in each review are repetition and graphical pop ins. The pop ins i don't care for even though i notice them because well this is easily one of the best looking games out there and with the gigantic sizes of the cities, i'm impressed that they can get all of it with a living population all on the screen at once, it's absolutly stunning. Now the repetition is up to ones taste, personally i don't mind pickpocketing, interrogating, and eavesdropping because that's what assassins really do, so i am glad it stays kinda true to this instead of throwing meaningless mini games(except for the lame capture the flag side missions) to extend the playing time. Also i have been working to complete all missions which usually are save the citizens and climb view points(they reveal more of the city and objectives). The story is fun, though it is alot different than they've been showing the past year, the story steers completely 180 right at the beginning before you start the story you are expecting. I feel this "turn" might piss off a few people, but so far for me it's fun and very interesting and has me aching for more. Overall i love this game, and feel it is truly the Game of The Year. 96%

The problem with reviewers is they want so many options yet to provide more would most likely take you out of the experience. They didn't want to tack on missions that didn't fit in or seemed meaningless therefore there isn't to much in the way of different missions. Has this hurt games like Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls? No it hasn't because they are made for certain tastes, and if you don't like doing smaller tasks to help in the larger picture but want straight action 24/7, then this isn't for you. The rest of us will enjoy the game of the year!

Thumbs down Assassin's Creed Most Definitely Does SUCK!!!

This game was fun for the first 3 assassinations.

Then I had to keep doing the same things over and over and over and over.

I have gotten so bored with this game I might go trade it in for $5 and buy something that is worth a damn.

It does have great graphics and fluid animation, but it definitely lacks one very important trait that great games require -- GOOD GAMEPLAY!!
